Very nice, unfortunately I'm right on the coast, so nothing here, but it's lovely to see all the nice pictures people are posting

And welcome to the forum.

Yep me too. Keep getting out of bed to watch it fall on the deluxe window but no need now as I can just hear it

I'm sorry Hope you got something in  the end! Been outside so not caught up yet on the millions of pages in here lol. Had an epic time. Got around 1cm here. So not as much as I hoped but lucky to get that quite frankly down 'ere! The sledge still worked thats all that counts LOL! I went down the drive way and crashed into the road sign! LOL!!!

Just talking with the wife, actually, have a rant at how living on the coast is rubbish.

Sea breezes take the edge of temperatures during hot spells, we hardly ever get snow, and storms usually fire just inland from the coast, before trundling off in a northerly direction

The look on her face was priceless!

And a few unrepeatable word thrown in for good measure if only they knew the pain us weather fanatics go through!

also I know every snow event is different, but I wonder how far inland the snow rain boundary is?

I'll keep an eye out, I'm sure there will be a satellite picture posted somewhere.

Snow rapidly melting here now.  Will be gone within a couple of hours, as expected, unfortunately.  Temperature now +2c here.

On another note, showers seem to be slowly making their way up the Bristol channel into Somerset, North Somerset and possibly the Bristol/Bath area.  One currently skirting east, to the south of Bristol.

Some lucky few, away from coastal areas, might see a snow shower or two yet!

Yep. Spotted on the radar. And my phone now showing snow showers for midday.

IMBY question for you, do you think those showers will move north of Bristol into Gloucestershire (Stroud is the far west of the Cotswold). There seems to be more of a rotation than earlier, even though they seem to moving eastwards. Thanks

Outside chance, depends how far NE the main band of PPN gets, as this is controlling the steering flow of the showers behind.  Once that starts to sink, the direction of travel of any showers will follow.

Main focal point for shower activity will, IMO, be Devon up into the Mendips.  Perhaps more sleety showers for urban lower areas like Bristol/Bath and rain for Bristol channel coastal areas.  Always worth keeping an eye on the radar as we can't rule anything out for anywhere today.

Hello all! Around 3 inches of snow in NE Hampshire as well (on the grass).

For a 2 hour snowfall event this is very impressive, who knows what could have been had the snow pivoted on us and stayed all day at that intensity. 1st February 2019 would have paled in comparison me thinks.

I wonder how cold our region will get tonight though with that snow cover. Looking at you, Benson in Oxfordshire.

Also I think many in this region benefitted a lot from the intensity of the snow. Wasn't expecting it to be as heavy as that, with 2-5cm being more likely.

Some of theose showers may pack a punch over 100m later this afternoon?

I expect wintry mix lower down though.

Yep. They seem to have merged into an organised band over last 30 mins. As AWD said earlier it looks like they'll head into Somerset and N Devon. Mendips, Exmoor and Blackdown hills could be interesting mid afternoon.

Nice seeing all the pictures in here this morning. Meanwhile here it’s devoid of anything interesting as usual with nothing but rain earlier.
