Fareham ... the soothing, relaxing, reassuring sound of ... rain. Heavy too.

Second time this winter with rain at a few point below freezing (well it's 0.2C now but wasn't at the beginning)

Very light snow now but a much better covering than I was expecting.

Extraordinary start to the day north of fareham, starting with graupel, thunder and lightning, followed by freezing rain, then rain, now there's snow mixing in.

Image shows freezing rain accumulating on the car after the graupel

Thundersleet turned to heavy, very wet snow half an hour ago. A messy covering. Odds are it’s raining down the hill from us and a mile or two closer to southampton

Just measured on the wheelie bin, around 4cms here so roughly what was expected.  Enough to cause some morning travel disruption etc for those who may have to be somewhere on a Sunday morning.

It's a very wet type of snow though, so I can't see it hanging around too long for lower lying, urban areas.  Should stay the day for higher ground though.

Usual rain in Weymouth.  And I got up early to check!

Yes very frustrating rain here over the hill in Broadmayne. But fryevds further inland reporting snow.

Looks like the front is slowing and starting to pivot?

Don't quote me on this, but I think it's trying to settle on the grass here in Fareham, just 5 miles from the sea

No - turns back to rain whenever the intensity drops off. So close. But glad many a bit further inland are enjoying the real thing.

Heavy... graupel! Now light snow, falling on thick frost, which makes a delightful change from falling on soggy ground.
