Yeah, both the temperature and dew point are the right side of freezing but I guess the upper air temps are too high? Fingers crossed for it to change but I can see where this is going

Yeah must be.

Curiously, Met have updated their forecast for heavy snow at 6am. Mind you, their ‘now’ icon is a heavy snow shower so ??‍♂️

Can confirm light rain here now, edit now stopped. Wet covering of snow on ground 1-2cm max. Main band gone through here according to radar. Must of been the intensity? Not sure how much of a covering will be left when daylight breaks as can hear the drip, drip.

Can confirm snow is falling and a wet covering on all surfaces. outskirts of Torbay ~1.5 miles from coast.

I'm at the marina in Torquay and its rain here. That's very close for you to see snow only 1.5 miles inland. Some people may end up getting a nice suprise.

Lol. Let's see what happens

We might catch some of the PPN coming in behind, approaching the B Channel now. Looks pretty beefy

Collaton st Mary area. Very marginal. Can now hear intermittent heavy rain/sleet on the window. Can see Totnes and west towards Dartmoor doing v well !

Ah, you were my glimmer of hope!

@Somerset Squall #uksnow report on Twitter from TA1 (north Taunton) area...

Definitely periods where it is more snow, a little more elevation is probably doing nicely. It is nice to see it falling when it does become more snowy than sleety at least. Feels like we were on the edge of something more special however.

100% it seems to be turning quite snowy at points and I think, yes this is, just carry on like this... oh it’s back to sleet.

Good luck to you guys further north/east I reckon you’re all in with a good shot as we’ve been so close.

It certainly seems to be trying it's hardest!! Especially with the heaviest of the precipitation! Ah well, I'm off back to sleep, watch it fall purely as snow now haha.

It looks like arriving in Yate bang on 5am just as the street light goes on outside my house. Perfect!

Not bad here, settling on the roads & it's heavy enough to make driving with high beam on a tad challenging lol.

If you see somebody outside, it will probably be me.  Waited nearly 2 years for this
