At least there's Cricket on Test Match Special Andy.

Tried listening to that but my boy wanted to SEE cricket so we watched the Aussie T20 league on BT.

Popped in to check for upgrades... You know it is bad for us when not one post all evening!

Morning all. An interesting tweet from Fergie. Hopefully some tasty, wintry charts will emerge over the next few days that will bring the snow starved south into the mix, not just the north. Fingers crossed.

Actually I'm unconvinced by current longer-lead daily output (of main operational centres) & any milder phases may prove transient. Priming for colder outbreaks seems omnipresent frm later nxt week into Feb: we need to be vigilant for sudden further switches in med-range emphasis.

Hmmmmm, interesting, however this winter thus far has LARFELY been a promise of something at 240hours out, and I can quote so many times since the middle of December where people have said "It's nailed on for xxxxxxx such a date" in the future. Right now as much as tweets from Ian or very sensible and level headed, does his source of the data really "understand" what is happening out there?

We live in hope, and keep our glasses half full as we've only just passed mid winter, so all to play for (even Madrid style)!

From the MAD thread this currently "seems" to sum things up nicely

"shame it isn’t seven hundred miles south ! "

A fabulously clear sky with not a single cloud in view, the yellow thing is edging ever higher and its looking a great start. Some ice scraping on the car screen needed this morning as we hit the overnight low of -0.7°C at: 07:56 so a very late overnight low, and still there at the moment.. I'm unsure quite what the guys in the water are hoping for as its calm out there, anyway brave they are as the sea temperature is a mere 8.2 °C....

Clear starry skies with a frost at 6:30am, but it had clouded over for our walk at 7:30am.

Tomorrow's rain looks to be rattling through earlier than previously forecast, so we might be OK here for the afternoon.

A high of 10.3c yesterday at 11:45am and a steady drop through the afternoon and evening to 4c at midnight and further drop to a los of 0.7c at 7:30am.
3.8mm of drizzly rain yesterday throughout the day.

Lovely blue sky and sunshine.
Temp though is only 4.5c, but feels a lot warmer out there with the sun blazing down.
Light NE winds, but that looks to be changing to a damp blustery day tomorrow.

Sunshine! We have sunshine!! Cold too, 1.1c .

First time this week unless I’m mistaken. Been a dull week regardless.

Something wintery for our friends in the Southeast early tomorrow. Something very wet for us

Anyone else bored of this weather? Cold keeps being pushed further back also.

Ignoring the fact it’s cold today!?

2.1c max here, a number of recent winters have struggled to have maxes that low.

Sorry let me rephrase what I meant, consistently cold as in at least a week or two of temperatures struggling to get above freezing with snowfall.

I agree it's cold today but after today it's back to rain and milder temperatures.

Certainly cooler than the last couple of days with a maximum of 4.1°C at: 13:26, and did turn cloudy for a while but then brightened up again, now back down to 3.1°C.....

A low of -1.2C at midnight rose to a high of 5.7C at around 2pm,then dropped to -0.7C an hour ago......now slowly on the rise -0.3C.........I expect it'll be the same old story tomorrow..a few wet flakes if we're lucky.....let's hope next week will bring us something more wintry.....snow shield is doing a sound job....
