The fog makes for some nice pics. This is on the walk to Bay Lough on the Knockmealdown mountains a few hours ago.

Massive swing away from cold in the last 24 hours.

Virtually no chance of a White Christmas anywhere and any post Christmas cold looks ropey now too.

Yeah looks that way, even my hope for a sunny but cold Christmas day looks ropey now, ah well.

Yeh. Looking increasingly wet and miserable.

The MET 06z Mogreps has pretty much the whole of Ireland missing out. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Really going down to the wire this all!! I note excitement on the MT but never know if that's only for South East England

Yup. No guarantees yet. There will be a sweet spot that gets buried, but some will get rain and some just dry and cold.

I bid you all good luck for some of the white stuff on Christmas day. No chance for me as I will be in Singapore (pending negative test in the morning). 32, sun and afternoon downpours.

So how are we looking for Christmas/boxing day snow? The model thread has thrown its toys out of the pram

The models are all over the place over the last few days and no consistency yet, but there is still chances of Christmas and Stephen's day being cold and some wintery showers. We'll know more in about a half hour as the ECM is rolling out now.

I think the chances of any wintry showers away from very high ground are very low. Less than 10%.

Maybe the Antrim Hills in the far North East the best chance.

Looks miserable for some with days of cold rain.

ECM and Icon now agreeing. Very strange to see such a big divergence at such short time. Hard to see ECM being wrong at this range though. Mad few days model watching.

The latest theory, is that few sun spot farts have caused the complete reversal of the weather pattern from a Greenie High to the Azores/Euro High.

I just don't buy it.

Looks that way Big Lad. Miserable wet Christmas coming up.

Well, on that low point.....

May I take this opportunity to wish you all here in the (compared to the MOD) very sane Ireland thread, a very happy, peaceful and safe Christmas. As it happens, I'm working every day from the 25th to the 28th and then from the 31st to the 2nd, so I was feeling a bit HUMBUG. Last night a good pal sent me a music video which lifted the spirits incredibly. Suddenly I felt festive!!! So I hope you all have a special and indeed, joyous (if possible) Christmas. Best wishes for a bit of snow for us all over the coming months!
