Wowzers. Hopefully this is close to the truth, it's as close to 2010 as we're likely to get in our lifetime again!!!

Sad as it is to say,  but yes you are probably right,  we should enjoy these synoptics they will become a rare beast with GW 😢

Right, tomorrow is planned. We're rising early, and if the snow (as expected) hasn't given us enough to play in (my lads are snow starved) then we're heading to higher climates and we're building a sn

I’m disappointed with the snow here today but not as disappointed as my wife will be tomorrow with her valentines present 😬

Just tested the cat out in his new backpack. Ground control to major tomcat. 😅

All we need to here is mountain is polishing his sledge, then it’s game on 😆

It will be a week a nervous week and constant watching of models, I really would like one big snow event this year

Given the ahem "rubbish" we have seen within the northerlies this week I remain on the fence lol, although someone mentioned earlier in the model thread (I know) that the Meto are keeping an eye on an Icelandic low this Saturday bringing potential disruptive snow.... anyway we shall see

There's your greicland pocket slider😅 think that's what we should call them from now on.

Watching some crap movie with the Mrs.

Amazing GFS of course, but way different to the ECM and UKMO.

Let's see what the 0z bring before I get the sledge out.

    Met office NI

Cold and mostly dry Tuesday and much of Wednesday, just a few light showers possible. Rain, sleet and snow spread southeast Wednesday night, clearing to wintery showers on Thursday.

    And Met Eireann

The further outlook towards the weekend suggests it will stay cold for the rest of the week with further wintry showers or longer spells of sleet or snow at times. Day time temperatures will mostly struggle to get above freezing with hard frost at night continuing.

    Sounds good to me.

I just knew it would all go pear shaped.

ECM and UKMO are dreadful for cold into mid month.

    The GFS? Garbage as ever.

GFS still showing snow potential from Tuesday until next Tuesday. Granted it isn’t showing the mega Saturday chart it did last night but the potential for snow fall is still there 🤨

Long may the landscape covered in white continue!  Preferably by snow than frost!

Those GFS charts do look good for snow later in this week, but it would be just our luck that they get diluted to a damp squib , and we are having to deal with warm sectors once again!

As expected, the GFS backs down.

Need to see whether we get something from the trough dropping down later in the week, as after that, it's another waiting game.

From my short personal observation we seem to have either +5°c and rain or -5°c and clear skies.

I much more prefer the cold then the wet. This morning was absolutely lovely with everything frozen with little crystal everywhere

    • Cold waves hitting Europe continue to threaten growers, is there a link to climate change?

Much of Europe, not just the UK, has experienced unseasonably cold weather since the Easter Weekend. A plunge of cold arctic air brought by northerly winds early last week brought several nights of frost and even snow across large swathes of Europe, followed by another wave of cold arctic air spreads across much of Europe this week. The frosts causing damage to new growth in vineyards and orchardsa0spurred on by a late March heatwave, the vineyards of France werea0particularly badly affected.

High pressure rules, but still chilly out the sun & watch out for a few showers

High pressure in charge for the rest of the week but the airmass will be chilly, so feeling nippy out of the sun. Not entirely dry either, with scattered showers around the next few days, especially in the west. Read the full update here

You'll need your coat because it's still cold out of the sun

More April snow for Monday morning with a widespread frost. If you have outdoor plans this week, the chill in the air remains especially once the sun goes down. Read the full update here
