I said earlier in the week that I expected a lot of people to be pleasantly surprised with this cold spell....glad many have seen some of the white stuff....in south Kilkenny which wouldn't exactly be normally in the firing line from a northerly, we have seen snow falling Wednesday afternoon, Friday morning, Saturday evening and again this morning with snow lying in the garden since Friday with another frosty night to come tonight......I see much of England and Wales also got decent snow last night and today.....milder from Tuesday but I suspect not for long....this winter is ticking along nicely after the 2 week cold spell a few weeks ago and I am getting more confident that the best is yet to come.....

Little to no thaw away from branches. Negative 3 tonight, with fog. Looks like somewhere in Russia. Can the met office give more than a yellow warning for ice? Cause I think it would be warranted tonight.

My parents live literally on the coast and even they had snow this morning. They are between groomsport and orlock

Anybody care to sum up the models for coming week? Don't have the energy to trawl the model page!

Mild and wet just about sums up this coming week I think with the Atlantic taking control. I haven't been near the model thread the past week. A wee update from MS or The Watcher would be appreciated

Turning much milder and wet midweek with a small chance of snow during the transition.

Potentially turning colder again into next weekend.

Yep, I live at Bangor Seafront and was up all night. Watched the snow come in at 3am as snizzle, then after a few hours it got heavier as the front backed West. Everything frozen. My car windscreen was freezing up even as I was driving my daughter back to Lisburn.

It turns Milder, but the colder air doesn't move too far away and we do see some transient colder spells and battleground situations are a possibility with the -5 line just sitting around Scotland really. So whilst it may look grim, there's nothing to rule out more surprise falls over the next couple of weeks. Also, on the plus side, with the cold air sitting so close, subtle changes could change the ouput only a matter of 72 hours out.

Models weren't great overnight for the cold returning over the weekend.

I'm, thinking we might need to wait until the second week of February for a return. I think we're still waiting for a proper SSW response.

Friday could hold some interest if icon is to be believed low sliding and cold air never really leaves the north only for a day or two ukmo showing some interest to finely balanced for weekend with a snowy potential.

Walk in local Country park today and it’s plain that flat land and North facing slopes have had zero thaw......

Another Cracking day out. High of 3c and zero thaw in shade. Had the family out for a forest walk at dusk and it would do your heart good. Depressed at the thought of wind and rain.
