Haven't looked at this closely enough just yet, but i am liking the looks of those low level temperature profiles! Plenty of cold air around. Precipitation type would not be a problem.

So although it is 1.9C out there, it feels BLOODY FREEZING! I've been out twice with the dog, and my hands get sore after just a few minutes!

Station says it feels like -1.4C, it feels a lot colder than that to me.....

just checked on met office app and over thr last few days it was showing higher temps for Aviemore next week now I just looked on and its almost an ice day every day from Tonight

No surprises in coastal Ayrshire...cloudy and breezy no Snaw or any likely in the short term..It really needs a multitude of attributes to get the white stuff here. Great to see all your pics some fantastic scenes very jealous ..

Having barely left the house in days, and having woken this morning to a rather feeble smattering of slush which quickly vanished, I eventually managed to get out this afternoon and find some North Lanarkshire snow, at the Lilly Loch, just east of Airdrie. A slow thaw was well under way by then, but I still enjoyed walking for an hour or so in a few centimeters of rather wet snow 

Brightened up nicely in late afternoon, and it was noticeable how much lighter at seemed at 3.30pm or so than it did a month or so ago.  The days are stretching!

Not something you plan for when going to ski at Hillend anyway.

An amber alert has passed but yellow warnings for snow and rain remain in place across Scotland.

We got 10 cm here last night, but it was already dripping by breakfast time.

So a white but soggy dug walk.

I'm not concerned yet anyway. In my experience both here in the Borders and in County Durham where I used to live - snow was much more common at the end of February / beginning of March. Winter isn't over for me.

Can't help but think we missed a real proper winter wind storm now that Christoph has gone. He basically deepened over the north sea but far enough away not to cause wind issues over us.

Check her out now. Real stunner and force 11 violent storm forecasts for South Utsire and Fisher sea areas

Here is the Gif i created for last nights snow event.

been having a look at the models for the next few days, the best bet for any coastal Ayrshire places or up towards @Mr Frost will be Saturday. met office has snow on the coast on Saturday, multiple models going for some decent shower risk in the west. May penetrate a bit further inland but looking promising for Saturday for some folk who missed out recently. Also GFS has picked up on a feature overnight from Saturday into Sunday with more of a band of snow, been on quite a few runs now. Dew points seem decent and 850S seem just about low enough. definitely one to keep an eye on as some of the shorter range models seem to be beefing up the shower risk a bit in the west on Saturday. 

Really enjoyed seeing the snow pics, a tad jealous I must say  definitely the most relaxed thread on this forum in here and nobody arguing about whether a 15 day snow chart will come off or that winter is over comments.

Fluctuating between 0.6C and 1.2C here this evening, but everything has frozen up outside. The sun didn't come out till late afternoon, so a lot of the stuff on vertical surfaces has been retained  And because of all the blowing snow this morning, the windward side of the hill is actually whiter now than it was at 8am:

Both tomorrow and Saturday are looking unreal for getting out and about locally in the snow here, and I think for me it might be unprecedented to have been able to do that locally (on a Friday) for four weeks in a row!   I mean, it's not too unusual to be able to find a snowy walk in the highlands every week in winter, but to be able to do so in Fife and Kinross.....well.....it's joyous  

Not much colour out there this morning....but plenty of stark monochrome and spindrift

It was fairly panning down last night and this morning. Accumulating something around or north of 20cm through to midday. Lovely snowy scenes to drive around in (or a dreadful carnage for those crazy people who don’t like snow..) Showers feeding in from the NW tonight. Seems this January has some cajones. Hoping that those who have been missing out and getting wet instead will get their winter pay day soon

Yeah quite. Went to bed last night hoping against hope that more snow would arrive but no, it was all gone and the rain was lashing against the window this morning.

Not much during the day apart from one abrupt shower that had us all scurrying for shelter (yes it was rain). This evening it's rain, just slightly sleety again now.

Good to see the snowy photos - some of you have struck gold! Hopefully it'll hang around for a few more days.
