Snowing and sticking (at least on the sidewalks) here in Morningside. A nice moderate snow too!

Fascinating watching the radar (well the constant light snizzle isn't amounting to much here yet!). The precipitation is already starting to move southwards now as far east as Stirling and that very heavy pulse of precipitation haring up Tyneside and towards the Borders. Let's see where it ends up...

Yeah that is such a sharp cut off on the backend! I think the winners and losers from this storm aren't going to be separated by many miles.

They'll have to dig the fabled orange ball out in a second, a rare beast these days.

Surprised they haven't.  Difficult to see it now and the lines on the pitch.

The importance of altitude in this type of weather in a photo - snow notably fades away quickly below 250m (the lower edge of the treeline)...

Afternoon dry and even an attempt at a sunset...

Temperature has hovered around 1c +/- 0.2c since teatime, still light winds.

Met Office still adamant that there will be no snow, consistent in that view since the very beginning...

This time tomorrow we'll see how true that is!

Slightly sleety rain now on.  Friday looks more promising in terms of temps for here, but less promising for any ppn. Ah well.

Given the heavy snow falling now in the NW of England the meto have got this badly wrong ... they missed last nights snow too. Not their finest hour this week

Is that band moving north? In other words could west of Scotland get it

Reduced to having to get excited that there is clearly sleet on the car windscreen and also the street rubbish bin....
