Snowing and sticking (at least on the sidewalks) here in Morningside. A nice moderate snow too!

Also a good sign that so many are seeing snow from this initial low pressure wave. The next (and final) low pressure wave will be the main event and figures to be a few mb stronger. Good support for continued or even enhanced precipitation rates after midnight.

Fascinating watching the radar (well the constant light snizzle isn't amounting to much here yet!). The precipitation is already starting to move southwards now as far east as Stirling and that very heavy pulse of precipitation haring up Tyneside and towards the Borders. Let's see where it ends up...

Yeah that is such a sharp cut off on the backend! I think the winners and losers from this storm aren't going to be separated by many miles.

The importance of altitude in this type of weather in a photo - snow notably fades away quickly below 250m (the lower edge of the treeline)...

Temperature has hovered around 1c +/- 0.2c since teatime, still light winds.

Met Office still adamant that there will be no snow, consistent in that view since the very beginning...

Agreed - I do think they perhaps should've accounted for the wide range of possibilities, especially since the UKV was somewhat out on its own as far as not really giving very much precipitation (although ironically it flipped around over the last 24 hours) but a crazy amount of model uncertainty even earlier today on how this was going to unfold.
