    Morning all,

First air frost in three weeks here with a low of -0.6c (-3.7c at Leuchars).

A more unsettled week ahead but we’ll probably see more sun than the meagre 9 hours recorded at Leuchars since Monday.

Just shows the difference in expectations. 9 hours of sun over the course of a week would be pretty decent in Glasgow just now.

Ladies and gentlemen you are not going to believe it. After a wait of almost 3 years... 😮

I don't suppose I have anything to complain about this winter...      .

I've waited years to get a picture of the house covered with snow.  Finally!

Went for a walk between 09:00 and 10:00 this morning and, although there was not a hint of a breeze then, it was perishing cold. Both the breeze and the temperature are up a bit now and the cloud is breaking up nicely.

Temperature 5.3deg.C up from a minimum of 0.8deg.C at 02:49, humidity i 67%, wind 0 to 3mph southerly, pressure is 1036.1hPa steady, there's been no rain in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 5/8 and the dew point is at -1deg.C.

Why do you think I moved away? 😉 😄(Actually my moving to coastal Fife was nothing to do with the weather but I do enjoy living in the driest and sunniest part of Scotland and it does make for higher expectations in terms of sunshine).

Plenty of sunshine on offer today in the East Neuk. Lovely walk up Largo Law.

Grade A Permagloom all day, and a max of 4.1c.  What a contrast to last weekends glorious sunshine.

Clear skies were here overnight though, allowing a frigid low of -6.8c - bucket of water outside still has a ice cap on it.

    Roll on milder weather...

Forty seventh air frost at - 2.4°C around dawn. Went up the hill behind the cottage with the dog this afternoon. Gorgeous and chilly, which suited as it was quite the climb but up to 4.6°C.

Cold start to the day at -2c. Cold and  cloudy most of the day with a  moderate SW wind.

A couple of closer views of Ben Wyvis taken from south of Dingwall yesterday as we were up for spares for the MF tractor.20210305_145642(1).thumb.jpg.3236294005d804fb829416c431fe9e27.jpg20210305_150153.thumb.jpg.e68a3a4287ce81e8321b184632798894.jpg

Also a photo of a letter written by a farmer of my vintage in Benbecula who also feels like me that the weather and seasons have returned to a pattern we remember as kids. He also feels that lack of aircraft has something to do with it as do I.20210306_204908.thumb.jpg.5e7555854083cd9948e0ec26cd65673d.jpg

Now the ground is much dryer we got  round to sorting a drain that had burst. This drain had been put in in deep snow at Easter 1968 in April when we had around a foot of snow for two weeks with almost nightly top ups which must have been troughs/polar lows in the flow.

Getting a cold spell in April  2021 would back up the letter above.

Thankfully recent days have been dry but very chilly. I’m hoping it warms up soon.

Can’t help but feeling increasingly optimistic though. Warmer weather is coming, covid is retreating and 55 is in the bag 🔴🔵

The main reason I want warmer weather is so my hands don’t get so cold sculpting my statue of Steven Gerrard 😍

We really have been due windy weather for ages which will arrive next week and usually I would get a bit of a breather from looking for snow / thunder in March then I normally begin the convective and thunderstorm hunt from April but could be something next week looks great for hail showers ⛈ image.thumb.gif.140043099fac0a7ea45329b025a0f67f.gif E2AFA937-AE99-40CE-BCDC-83889BC754A5.thumb.png.131f4c01ab4dafc8807fdddf028444e7.png

Well, according to Tam the Hun on the BBC lunchtime broadcast, this is the end of the good spell for dry, bright and coolish weather. Shame, I was enjoying it.

Temperature 7.6deg.C up from a minimum of -0.9deg.C at 07:00, humidity is 74%, wind 1 to 3mph southerly, pressure is 1027.5hPa dropping slowly, there's been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 8/8 but thin enough to allow some brightness through.

Not a bad day at all. Dumfries House beckons for a bit of a wander.

Gorgeous day today, sunny and reached 11c.

The sun managed to clear the local hill which gives several hours more sunshine compared to a month ago.

Beautiful day, also a very nice day in Glasgow I believe...

Horrid day of persistent light to moderate rain.  Only redeeming quality is that the max temperature got up to 7.0c, warmest its been for a few days.

My word for today is damp. It's not particularly cold or windy and it's not raining right now but it is still damp from the rain earlier.

Temperature is 7.8deg.C up from a minimum of 5.9deg.C at 00:01, humidity is 90%, wind is 1 to 5mph south-southeasterly, pressure is 1022.0hPa steady, there's been 4.6mm of rain since midnight and 5.0mm in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 8/8 but you couldn't describe the day as either bright or dull, just in between.

Big change this afternoon with blue skies sun calm humid and mild at 10c after a wet night. Weekend was very cold with no sun. Still a high chance of snowy spells for the next 6 to 8 weeks here especially if we carry on experiencing old fashioned seasons.

Much better day with a max temperature back into double digits at 10.2c.

Light winds and dry (after a bit of a deluge overnight).

Cloud thinned at times to tantalize you with blue skies but no sunshine of note.

Local rookery is making one heck of a racket now, mating season and nest building has started.

Warmest day of the year so far here with a max of 12.0C. Min was 5.4C so a mild day over all. Just a few bright intervals and one or two light showers.

Well, seeing as how we are forecast some blawiness and blusteriness later today I decided to clean up my oil lamps ( just in case! ) This is a sure fire way of guaranteeing no power failures! It's been a wee bit blawy this morning and I await with interest the evening weather. I personally don't think it'll be that bad where I am, but the northwest of Skye and the Western Isles will probably get most of the gustiness. I'm hopeful it won't turn out to be too bad. 🌬️🌀

Damp and slightly dull sort of day but relatively calm considering the forecast and not too cold.

Temperature 8.3deg.C down from a maximum of 8.8deg.C at 12:00 and up from a minimum of 6.3deg.C at 04:58, humidity is 84%, wind 1 to 3mph southerly with a maximum gust of 10mph at 11:05, pressure is 1014.1hPa dropping quickly, there's been 0.4mm of rain today and in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 8/8.

Dry, grey and murky all day with a max of 9.9c.

Wind has picked up noticeably since mid afternoon but nothing to get excited about.

Looks like it will get a bit breezy at the end of the week, another memorable thing about the weather the last few months has been the lack of strong winds.
