Looks like Dundee is getting a full blown caking currently and caking snow over the last couple hours there!

So I have just taken the liberty to count the forecasted precipitation from noon tomorrow untill midnight Tuesday on NW forecast 

31 mm there abouts 

so 31cm now I even know that is a stretch

Currently clear and frosty at -2c some of the fine snow that fell this morning has disppeared but ground remained dry and frozen all day. Seems like there was a bit of sublimation  going on here today.Condensation finally going on the single glazed windows as air has got dryer all day.

Over the next few days, its all about nowcasting and diagnosing where these convergence zones set up. Clear from radar where they have set up tonight

I am going to use the convective indcies to highlight Tuesday morning/afternoon for the eastern Central Belt and eastern Scotland in general. Postion of the streamers "generally" parallels the pressure contours. Tuesday morning has a decent looking pressure gradient and some hints at increased instability as well. All good signs for some decent snow. Especially around Edinburgh!

Met Office T+36 charts also show this timeframe as favorable for snow around Edinburgh and eastern Central Belt. 

Looks like the convergence zones and subsequent streamer positions will slowly sink south over the next 24/36 hours.

By the looks of both the models and the radar it seems like the convergence line will hover between Aberdeen and the Forth for the next 6-12 hours (cheers for posting that CMD! Helpful to see the breakdown by 12 hourly segments like that), if anything maybe moving a bit northwards in the next couple of hours. The flow is becoming a little more ENErly and the kink in the flow over western Scotland starting to be ironed out a bit so we may see a bit of a southwesterly extension, and I think that southern zone of precipitation seems to be extending northwards again too, so perhaps Edinburgh-Glasgow will see more over the next few hours from that. As far as Amber/red warning potential goes I'd say - Amber potentially tomorrow morning-afternoon from Aberdeenshire to Fife basically inland to the nearest Munro, tomorrow lunchtime to Tuesday morning from the Tay to Edinburgh-Glasgow, tomorrow night-Tuesday evening Forth-Clyde streamer line to the Southern Uplands and Tuesday-Wednesday lunchtime maybe a shade to the south of that. Red warnings aren't out of the question either, and I'd think could be anywhere from Tayside to East Ren as a northeast/southwest limit, and probably at some point from tomorrow lunchtime to maybe Tuesday night depending on how things shake out.

The A90 just West of Dundee at Longforgan just now. Someof this must beheading your wayI think. Either that or if you are unlucky may just miss to your North and hit Edo.

Just a couple of snowy piccies from today. The hill emerged from the murk this morning for the first time since Monday I think......and still looked fairly white considering how much rain we had the other day(s):

...and then the view south to East Cairn and West Cairn in the Pentlands, as seen from Beecraigs this afternoon

Just back from a job behind Auchtermuchty and its -1.5 and icy, back through Falkland and Freuchie and its a white oot,  roads bone dry in Glenrothes.. can't believe i was pulling cars out of floods up to their doorhandles the other day, and now everything is bone dry. Properly icy wind though..

Oh Gawd!!   Hubby going for jab tomorrow.   He hates needles so it is going to be a long, unsettled, night!!

Meanwhile, dash and blast it, I've seriously miscalculated on the beer/sport front. It's only blooming Superbowl night and I've left myself with just three more bottles to get through four hours plus of American football. Onto the malt then...

It could be an unsettled night here too.

Where's the game? Los Angeles?  If so, aren't they about 8 hrs behind GMT?   So what time will you be watching then?
