Well that’s basically it. That was what I’d call a 1 in 5+ year chance we had everything - established cold, low dew points, a favourable wind direction and plenty of precipitation on the radar (or so it looked). Still nothing. I am just heartily sick of winters here. It’s either a near-3-month hurricane or running up the heating bills due to strings of bitterly cold nights and days (the fact the days may be a bit milder than inland isn’t that relevant to the bills point) without any of the joys of snow.

Yes same here.

Does anyone else feel a bit sad knowing that all this lovely snow will soon disappear?

The kids have been out the last 5 days sledging and having snowball fights with friends and we have had some great walks over the last couple of days in the clear blue skies and sun making everything look beautiful in the snow. It’s been a really great winter and it’s only mid February so plenty of time left for more snow

Nope!!   (for once)

Surprising Ayrs not got anything. Been quite heavy graupel here, left about 1 to 2 cm. Golf course heaving with kids sledging. That’s a few times it’s snowed in Troon this winter. Maybe not much but snow nonetheless.

Yes, I’ve not really had a chance to enjoy it outdoors this winter, but had a great walk in it this afternoon.

Sounds like chaos in rural Aberdeenshire today - high winds combined with loads of deep snow leading to blocked or impassable roads. Been out for a walk here earlier and the windchill was very evident.

Certainly a chill for sure

Now then... I thought I had a visiting Kestrel (quite often)   Looking at that though, I'm not so sure.   Although I think that Kestrels are more of a brown shade ?

Cracking pic - saw a sparrowhawk and a red kite on my walk this morning. Peregrine flew over the back garden earlier this week. Great to see wildlife thriving even in these harsh conditions.

Yeah, Troon and Prestwick seem to have done better than Ayr in recent years (during 2018 Beast from the East too?)

Quite heavy snow here just now, small flakes but lots of them.
