Royal Mail are attempting deliveries to more remote areas today. Last time I saw the postie was Monday.

Snow showers with a brisk Southerly wind, so no sign of a thaw here yet. Next week look positively tropical with highs of 8C.

Way out in FI but you never know.

And so the chase begins again. Similar been showing up on a couple of models or not far off it. MO also not really moving away from the possibility in the extended

Wow, the western edge of this band got a lot closer to land than I thought it would.

In a pretty decent snow shower now. Forecast seems to be breaking down a bit. Convergence zone on the western edge of the continental high is about 60 miles further west than it should be

The driver was caught with both windscreens almost completely covered with snow as he drove in Dundee.

I’m not 100% sure I believe this post. Something looks off with it or maybe it is just really unbelievable that someone would drive like that.

Snow showers generally moving from about 300º (SSW). Lines up moisture convergence nicely along the A7 and eastern edge of the Pentlands terrain. Too bad temps are above 0! This could have been a nice afternoon dumping for Edinburgh

What a crazy week,

30cm + still on the ground after an extra 1cm last night and a few beefy showers incoming for dundee this afternoon.

Few pics from dundee this week. Madness

That bottom one of King St would make a great Christmas Card. I lived above that pub for a year when I was a student in the mid 90s.

Looking at the snow radar, forc Aberdeen it's the parting of the red sea!!

No major thaw here. Crunchy and compacted after last night sleet and snow. Nice change to squeaky snow.

interesting comments on longer range!

The usual Moses snow shield the dewpoints are still pretty low -6c in the city so any thawing is going to be limited

Temp -1.0C, feeling raw in the wind and a brief snow shower just passed over. Looks like more to come, not often we get snow here from a SE flow.

Overnight low of -8.6C from late yesterday evening. Cloudier this arvo after some initial brightness and the temperature has nudged up to 1.4C, so a bit of a gentle thaw on the go.

This winter is one of the greats already, up there with the winters of the 1980s, and looking at the Met O long range forecast and the mood music in the models, I don't think we're quite done yet.

The one good thing about the upcoming thaw is I can finally get on with decorating the bathroom that was paused at the start of this cold spell
