The whole things has been quite a commitment , from watching the MOD since early December and then that increasing to watching every model run start to finish for 3 weeks prior to the spell - and all the ups and downs that come with that. 
Then the pain of the transition due to the slow moving occlusion getting out the road prior to deep cold air arriving. Followed by 20 hrs of grey sky easterly and the worry of that - a dry easterly.
Eventually  the convection started built and brought deep snow to most down the east side and right through the Central Belt. A few mystery MO warnings along the way to cause more confusion. 
But magical end results. Lots of late nights, some almost sleepless watching lampposts and hours working out blob movement on the radars.
Excellent posts for the more knowledgable to help it along and input from everyone to get a picture right across Scotland.

Been a blast but not sure I’ve the energy to chase another one this season .... .

The sleep patterns really take a hit when snow is in the offingcurtain twitching lampost watch cursing the radar for showing pink when there's sod all falling eventually nodding off thinking bugger nothing tonight for me,wake up to the 0zs like a dedicated coldie look out the curtain and discover you've got a good fall through the night ,smile then go to work happy it's draining it really is but we do it because we love the chase of snow the battles of ECM v the others. The GFS v the others, praying for an agreement with them all,a rare thing indeed but to be certain of snow the good old Met must be on board,anyhoo back to radar watching model runs and lampost watching for a few more days till the next time .great company in tough times for the nation.

Yeh, it’s brutal chasing snow, but I’ve always been amazed by it, since I was tiny.

On a positive, it’s likely snowing here again from the tiniest piece of convection

I sometimes think - if people are training to be psychologists, popping in that thread could amass a wealth of data for them.....

I used to be a Model Thread watcher. But now that I suffer from severe anxiety and panic disorder - I'm pretty certain, that staying away from that place, is the best thing I can do, for my health.

I sometimes think "this is a local shop, for local people" from League of Gentleman - should be a tagline for that part of the forum

Walked down to the lighthouse just before sundown and the air was so clear across the firth, could almost have shaken your hand (ok, ok, not shaken your hand) from here. The golden hour light is magical when the ground is snow-covered.  I had a few outdoor tasks today too which were tackled gladly instead of sat indoors online and on the phone. Another 48 hours of cold to come by the looks of it and I'll be making the most of it.  (One of the very few advantages of not having much paid work just now  )

Seen some howlers this week on way to and from work. Had a whole roof of snow batter the front of my car on awpr from car in front they got a stinker of a look when I passed them. And the depth of the snow before departure from roof was about 10-15cm

Wonderful blue skies this morning after our modest overnight low of -3.6c (always amazing how the sea keeps us warm, it was -15c not far away at Cupar). Clouded over this afternoon a bit but still a lovely day. Max was 1.6c so a gentle thaw in the sun. Now back down to -1.1c.

I may catch a flurry or two overnight though not sure about a SEly wind direction.

Too lenient by far. Mediaeval punishments were far more effective. I mean, if Hancock thinks some nonsense like breaking a quarantine is worth 10 years in the can, surely this has to be worth at least boiling in creosote?

It's only hilarious because the police managed to stop him. Headline could easily have been 'Dangerous Driver kills cyclist/schoolchildren."

Was down to -6.5c earlier but like last night it's clouded over a bit and back up to -4.5c!

Spent today helping neighbours try get out the street every car needed to be pushed out and up the car and parked on main road absolutely awful road conditions 

snow is all fun and games until it stops
