Apart from some snow showers tonight and tomorrow and a snow/rain breakdown event there is not much in the way of precipitation in the next week  as far as I can see

I reckon it will be a slow melt and little in the way of a breakdown event snow to rain across the country,if the sun gets out after Sunday it will melt it but no rapid thaw for me if cloudy it's surprising how snow sticks around at below 6c especially if little wind ,of course I might be talking rubbish and it melts on an hour

That was what happened in 2010. The problem was the the bottom layer of snow had constantly melted with heat escaping through roofs, and then froze again because of the snow sitting on top of it. So when the thaw started, even though it was slow, because the bottom layer of snow had essentially become separated from the layer above it - it started sliding well before the vast bulk of the snow on top of it was actually ready to move. This meant that the weight of the snow pushing down on the slippy layer - brought down slates when the bottom layer started sliding.

Tricky to work out how it will play out that's for sure I remember lots of guttering giving way in 2010 we had little in the way of sunshine along the coast today so no real sun melt and looks like little sun for us in the next few days maybe that will lessen the impact here

Checked back our 24hr records and they revealed that we actually got down to 8.3c at 08.10am which was lower than my first post this morning.

@101_North or anyone else get up to the Pentlands today? How much snow up there?

Sadly not today as work has got in the way. Planning to take the day off tomorrow though to enjoy it before it starts to disappear.

This is the slowest moving feature Ever!! After the precipitation earlier this week it seems like it will be July by the time it make land

A maximum of -3.2°C here this arvo on another stunning winter's day, and so a third ice day this winter.

Temperature plummeting and down to -5.7°C already.

If it ever gets here it will be a spent force tune in again next week for the next adventure of the snail front

I would rather this one moved westwards.

The forecast for here (and the automated output) look good for snow later on, but we’ll see.

Differing forecasts tonight here between beeb and met the beeb have heavy snow showers all night the met have a light shower at some point in the night I'm inclined to go with the met but can see the potential off the German north coast to feed a good few showers on a stiffening south east wind ,as ever time will tell .
