Are we absolutely sure we aren't in the Day after Tomorrow?

at 6pm we reported -2.9C, at 7pm we are reporting -5.1C

Me Like the latest ECM for Saturday. Hopefully the Ayrshire folk can get some snow. Got countless flurries ver the last 4 days but that was about it

From an overnight low of -4.5c, we reached a high of 4.9c in the mid afternoon sun at 3pm before it started plummeting like a stone. Currently -4.8c/-7.0c, it’ll be interesting to see just how low it goes.

Snow-wise, we reached a depth of 20cm on the patio table, bird table has become a new snow feature and my car aerial was fully buried. A blue-sky powder day which son made full use off once again by heading off to the golf course for a bit of snowboarding. I was stuck on back to back teams meetings sadly from 9.30am.

Yes, need to be further inland and higher up.. need more than one snaw fix a winter..

Strathdon/Corgarff or the Cabrach would be my choice if you really want to go for snow! 

Otherwise, just pick somewhere high. A friend lives at 300m just off the Tarland Road and gets noticeably more snow than even we do at this relatively snowy exposed location.

I’d say Upper Deeside over to Strathdon would give you a considerably good chance of the snow and frequency of it you desire

The Tarland area is a great spot for good snowfall

Just after 7pm and hit -10C. The coldest temperatures are expected early Thursday.

Bit of a shock going outside from 20C indoors

The clearer weather today allowed the NASA satellite to get a good view of the snow over Scotland

That would mean knowing/guessing who has a "hot" missus (mr) or a "cold" missus (mr).

I'll take a punt at -21.2C for a purely outside temp (official).

I,ll say -19.4c outside official and just a guess at 23.2c for indoors it's toasty inside mine tonight

I don't even know how low mine CAN go.....

I had to tell Weather Display to ignore -19C because when there is wind and rain, we sometimes get the temperature reading -19C for a second or so. So I assume, being presumably a voltage issue, -19C is the lowest my station can read?

For those waiting for a reading - we are now at -5.9C....

Hi guys,

My first post here but I've been avidly reading this thread (and the model thread) in winter for years. Got nearly 15cm here, and although not as much as many other parts of Scotland it's easily the best snowfall here since the BFTE.

Actually it’s still +2c just up the road at Leuchars. It’s the easterly wind that’s bringing in sea air. If the wind shifts temperatures will drop here too.

Incredible lows already, in addition to that Kinbrace figure, -18C in Strathdon and -17C Ballater (the latter I think has an official station albeit not an automatic one)

UKV suggests we're more likely to hit sub -20Cs in Sutherland rather than Aberdeenshire, with temperatures bottoming out fairly soon there, but we'll see...
