Quick question, Max today was 0C (now -0.7C) - do I get an ice day or does it need to be a minus figure?

Decent snow shower here

Wasn't even looking at the radar ! (Ha I'm so relaxed now I have decent snaw). Looks like this one and the one behind it are moving east to west (again).

Pretty heavy but short. Sure you'd never get bored watching snow falling in these conditions anyway

Interesting update from the Met, the mild spell turning into a interlude perhaps?

EDIT - Hmm, the current UTC time is 15:14 so we now have documented evidence of time travel, or just someone overly eager to post the update!

Looks like one more shower following that one then I think the beast will be signing off for now

Of course it helps if your monitoring equipment goes to several decimal places.

So @asjmcguire if you can find it in the data that it was actually -0.01C (or even -0.04C!) then dancer!

Nope it would need to be -0.1, sorry lad!

Technically I think that it should be minus but as I had the same yesterday go for it.

Here the showers have died away since lunchtime though there is still cloud to the East and the temp has crept up to +0.5C. Radar shows some light activity nearby.
Still a bit short of our depths at end Nov to early December 2010 when we had 5 to 6 days of convection beginning with the night and day of thundersnow and far more disruption but definitely the second best event here this century and probably some time before that by a mile.

Summer Sun and others do seem to get the afternoon updates ahead of time and before it shows up on the actual site. I have looked overnight sometimes and found the 04.00hrs out early. Here just a light shower incoming though not much on the radar after that.

Starting now Edinburgh

Well it's taken about an hour to get here from Dunbar on the radar ... slow moving but might hang about a bit and pack a wee punch.
