It's times like this - that I am so happy I spent the time to code a timelapse webcam.

Even yesterday had a lot more snow - enjoy all 2 minutes of what I am going to dub "The battle to keep the road clear" (spoiler alert: they didn't)

Also for people who like to keep an eye on BordersWeather. The webserver which has been dutifully service the site since 2006, died a few days ago. Until I can figure out how to proceed - here is a temporary replacement that offers the webcam and basic weather data, updating roughly every 2 minutes automatically -

Wow just wow having woken up to another blizzard I won’t have accurate measurements until later but definitely 30cm now better than both 2010 and 2018 for level depth this is crazy

Funnily enough, I have just been sat here thinking - there are usually a string of lorries coming through the village between 5am and 6:30am. But I haven't seen any lorries this morning. I wonder if the A697 further south (Wooler and Alnwick) has been pasted and they can't get through?

Wow, didn’t expect so much more snow during the night!

I’ll let @101_Northreport on measurements but looks like possibly another 5 inches.

I had cleared the car of snow last night and as you can see it’s covered in another thick coating again.

Cold, dry and cloudy, which may have helped keep temperatures from crashing completely.

Holding at -10C.

A further 10cms fell in a few hours yesterday, which means I'll have to break out the snow shovel again. 

 

Into the weekend, different weather which will start to shift the snow.

Bonus snow here in Leith on what is (probably) the last day of convection. The flow came good for us down the estuary and easily doubled up on what we had on the ground before I went to bed.

OK. So that's 2018 beaten  

As @Polar Side said must be 5-6 inches new snow! Takes us to be 32-35cm or so! More where it drifted! Absolutely amazing! 

Woke at 2.30 and was annoyed the shower track looked like missing here

Morning all. Another cm here overnight giving us a grand total of 9cm. Not a lot compared to some but a heavy snowfall for coastal NE Fife!

Long-time lurker but thought I'd join in with the fun given the current conditions!

A little top up overnight has left me with 38cm in the back garden (Westhill), hopefully the block can hold on and at least keep us dry to maintain the cover for as long as possible/limit flooding which would surely be pretty bad given the volume of snow at lowish elevations - has to be pretty unusual for there to be so much snow under 400m asl!
