@Mair Snaw @drm just heard awpr from Ellon to bridge of don and in around those areas plus Aberdeen city are pandemonium with cars stuck, roads closed and generally horrendous driving conditions. ?? Not like the gritting services didn’t know snow was forecast today maybe they are using the radar like we are

OK here is the update from the Borders.

Overnight low: -2.9C @ 8:53am

Current max: 0.9C @ 11:39am

Haven't been out with a ruler, but from popping out with the dog - I would say there is between 8-13cm on the ground. Around tea time yesterday, there was between 1-3cm on the ground.

Currently: (fluctuating) -0.6, -0.5C, -0.4C

means Edinburgh and the central belt get what Dundee and Perth are getting just now !

I doubt the showers will be biblical by the time the convergence zone gets here it’ll be running out of steam with the flow opening up

Aye, I can see what everyone else was talking about now, these showers are heavy when they hit.

Edit: Video just never seem to capture the intensity as it looks to the naked eye.

Ach well, can't win em all, least we are in the game, better than 90% of the rest of the UK ... and last night was pretty special. Here at least just been unlucky all day as the showers go Haddington, Dalkeith, Penicuik, North Lanarkshire ... see what happens later, maybe we get luckier but starting to think maybe not ....

Blue sky appearing over the sea.  A wee respite perhaps.  I would guess at 3 inches fallen in the last couple of hours here.  Considering we i only had about an inch this morning it’s not bad going.

Flow of showers seem more direct easterly, might get a few heavy direct hits as been on the northern edge of a few today.

Wind map and weather forecast

Not sure if that changes where the convergence zone sets up but obviously there's a massive one in the North Sea east of Dundee this afternoon, where the Ne'ly breeze meets the E'ly maybe?

Kingswells clearly getting hit at the minute, I know it’s the new road but don’t think I’ve seen it this bad here since 2010/2011 tbh

I’m certain the level snow is now deeper that 2010 here. There were more drifts then but this level. Must be around 10” now.

I think the Met have dropped a Similar to a young bull on this one! If 2018 was a Central Belt red warning then so is this. 100%.

Nice wee shower here - although nothing compared to elsewhere - will be short sadly. Just not in the game today so far.
