Latest UKV is a little better for Aberdeen, Tayside and Fife than the previous run, totals still very much on the stonking side (not to be taken too literally of course but as a rough indication of where it's distributing the showers over the next couple of days):

The lines out in the North Sea seem to be getting longer - bit of a lull along the Forth-Clyde line as the 'pasting zone' moves south into North Fife/Tayside

It will get to us tho

and seriously I’m expecting 30cm of snow as that map says it

Just got my first beefy snow shower! gone from scraping to a dusting to a covering in just 6-7 minutes.

You have more to come if the last 15 minutes or so here are a guide.

Snow shield working well. Had my hopes up earlier. Nothing since my last post, how typical!!

Not giving up hope just yet.

The wind is bitter up here looking out over the sea!!

You mean the mine under your house.

Every chance I suppose.   It's like a bloody honeycomb round these parts.   Only thing that gives me confidence is that this house was

built in 1890. So I reckon if it was gonna go we would have had problems  long before now.   No signs of any subsidence at all over the years.

We have been here for almost 16 years.   Hubby's dad bought it in 1967 so not far off 70 years without any major problems.   We did have to replace 2/3 of the roof after the 2010 snow debacle which highlighted problems that we didn't know were there.   In those days apparently, slates were laid on top of horse hair, not felt.  Which had been gathering and storing moisture over the years,  causing it to rot I suppose.    Obviously we have fully renovated and refurbished the interior, trying to keep as many of the original features as possible.

It has however proved to be a good, substantial family house over the years.

It certainly looks interesting for the central belt. The Meto updated forecasts are showing heavy snow symbols for the Glasgow area and even parts of the west coast. Hopefully @Mr Frost will get his deserved dumping of snow. Not seen him on here for a few days?

It doesn't affect everyone but some of you are getting a pasting soon.

I'll be livid if Dunbar steals Leiths snaw like that on Tuesday

So if this

radar1.thumb.png.ba72d945a8cd8ef64051590c36c80ad9.png  =   fax1.thumb.png.7dec183ed6a7c8bb4693fd8b2fcd4b23.png

Then this

36hrs                                                                         48hrs

fax2.thumb.png.17a314e3f6416a3f1f36214329b6d323.png and this fax3.thumb.png.31260b353845007cafb60cbd6c966b12.png

means the central belt is going to get quite a lot of snow. Missing on the 24hr Fax but assumed to be in the vicinity.

It appears from satellite that the Baltic sea is a snow making machine which will feed central Scotland for a couple of days continuously.

more than here, have had 1 or 2 moderate ish snow showers and a covering now. Some beefy stuff moving into NE Fife heading my way now. The whole band you see across E Scotland will slowly, i mean slowly move S over the next couple days.

Going by the radar I thought you'd have been snowed under...well, at least half a dozen flakes
