Yeah. Graupel and a couple of proper, but light, snow showers. Only accumulations really are the wee piles of graupel at the edges. Fingers crossed for a rapid improvement

Snow on here properly now, not really heavy but you can see individual flakes settling nicely.

Heaviest of the day here now and lying with ease as soon as it prepped up.... I would say today hugely encouraging basically the forecast of LS and KW etc is going exactly as said... Light stuff today temps dropping... NSSM fire up overnight tomorrow in dropping thicknesses dropping temps... What noone can do is predict with certainty who will get the beefiest showers... Just back from walk up Craigie hill, pics looking east over Perth then one looking over towards the lomond and 1 with one happy kid and hot chocolate and 1 grumpy I don't like walking kid

Certainly heavy in the city and very dark a good inch in no time  bullseye

The rugby is good. Wales looked surprisingly competent early on but Ireland, despite or is it because of having an 84 year old stand off, are now controlling the game. Stamina will decide who wins, and I don't care who it is as long as it's not Wales.

Sounds like decent winter tyres would help. Pirelli Scorpion all terrain plus would do the job nicely.

Yep, good winter rated all terrains are the way forward. I have chains for my Hilux but it only ever gets stuck on BF Goodrich All Terrains when the snow builds up underneath and lifts the wheels clear of the ground so never bother with them.

The radar show that the lines of shower clouds are coming a bit further South over the North Sea as the stratus starts to break up with the colder uppers.  Hopefully some heavier showers to come soon. Out to my east I can see a bit of blue sky (first for many days) and the shower clouds behind are towering!

Yeah one thing lost amid our snow obsession: yet to record any sunshine at Leuchars this month. Rainfall sitting at 161% of the monthly average, sunshine 0%

Been snowing lightly until the last hour when the showers have started getting heavier.

Temperature falling but dew point rising, was 1.4c/-4.7c at 12.20pm, currently -0.3c/-1.5c now.

A heavier snow shower has left a slight dusting which bodes well for later. The charts are showing Monday night into Tuesday as the period most likely to produce for central areas.

-0.7c on the garden doo-dah! Given it's windy and cloudy it's an impressive ice day and the first for here. Couple of similar temps showing relatively locally on the Met WOW site for comparison.

After a dalliance with above freezing temperatures (up to 1.2c), the arrival of some lovely heavy showers from 3pm onwards has allowed temperatures to drop nicely (now -1.1c so already matching last nights overnight low).

Really decent heavy showers now, not lasting long but quite frequent and if this keeps going incrementally we are going to get a few inches on the ground before tomorrow morning.

Got to love the orange and pink colours in these showers as the sun sets, here's one of the first heavy showers that arrived earlier this afternoon.

I took an old Defender 90 for a test drive around 2014. There was 2 foot of snow around the hills of Echt and the Defender breezed through it.

Remarkably, I didn't have to use the diff locks and it was running on normal road tyres. Most heavy 4 x 4s I've driven are prone to sliding, particularly if its icy. Might tyres be the issue?
