Erm I couldn't think of a more pointless bit of equipment here.  But maybe it could be adapted for blowing leaves around? Plenty of idiots around here who like their leaves blown from one part of the garden to another by burning petrol, so the next blowy day the leaves go 'wahay, back we go!'

I sold my snowblower to the gardener. He was planning on modifying the auger at the front to pick up leaves during the autumn time.  Sign of the times.....

A score of 180 if that comes off!

Decided against trying to go for a walk further up the hill today so I took the dog around Haughton Park in Alford whilst the wife went to the Co-op. There's a fair few cm lying in Alford but it's heavy wet stuff and the walk wasn't pleasant. A fair few places where it was 6 inch of slush with a white covering on top.

On the way back we took a drive up over the hill to be nosey. Nobody will be parking in the car park up there any time soon, the entrance is just to the left at the start of the video.

That's deep enough, but in an earlier video, just before this one, it was even deeper, but the video is too large to upload.

Probably at about its deepest in this photo.

I'll be heading up there tomorrow for some "essential photography"

Oh Edo, thank you for the support mate  I really do appreciate it, I should know by now that on here is the best place to be for predictions, analysis etc.  but this time it's been particularly hard to stay positive Anyway, I must again say a big thank you to everyone on here.  I've been here since 2010 but very rarely posted, and it's only this year that I've felt more comfortable doing so, so thank you to everyone for your informative and entertaining take on the Scottish weather

looking at all charts we would be ridiculously unlucky to not see something decent with a week of non marginal chances but i understand the nerves. i count decent these days as 3 inches

Looking a bit further out - the UKMO is gorgeous for Tuesday, with such a long fetch you could start to see showers merging and totals piling up:

An extension of the easterly proper into Wednesday is starting to firm up, certainly for eastern areas, with a slightly weaker flow but still due east and if anything even colder uppers coming in:

Thursday is the first sign of the Atlantic making inroads, but still very cold and very very close to an undercut especially on the UKMO:

Give me a shout beforehand and I'll give you an idea of the road conditions. It was fairly clear most of the way, but rough over the top. Drifting across the road even lower down so if the wind gets up then the road might end up rather difficult or impassable.

Be aware that there is nowhere to park at the top, or even turn around, due to the snow. We had to go right over and turn at the bottom on the other side. Coming up from the Alford side the first lay-by on the right has been ploughed and there's room for 3 cars, the lay-by part way down the North side is partly clear. The car park and the usual entrances to the forest tracks are under several feet of snow, and blocked by the mounds made by the plough.

The GEM puts the convergence line a bit further north and buries Perth - not easy to pin down exactly where this will end up even by looking at the isobars but I do think we're starting to see the signs of more substantial organised snow through Monday and Tuesday:

Aprege and even ICON hinting that too. Areas between Kinross and sort of Blairgowrie could be caked.

Thanks for the heads up. Based on your information, I'm going to give the trip up the Suie a miss. Looks pretty bad up there, and I can't afford another insurance claim.
