[Hairy Celt]

Radar says snow, lamp post says suck my festering pustules. There's white stuff on the car but it's just bird cack.

Stunningly cold day here   (Currrently 1.5c)   with a fresh to strong E wind blowing. Got windburn on my face today in spite of wearing wolly hat and many layers including a new heavy wind proof anorak after young Mr Northernlights got one in the autumn and sang its praises.

We have been outside all day stocking up in case Fridays forecast is correct and we can feed and bed all the cattle undercover

At sunset tonight the sky to the south was very stormy looking and looking just full of snow.  We are just getting flurries so far today

I'm beyond stressing about flow, wind direction, convection....anything has to be better than this relentless pish

Good to know there's something happening over there!  We're all wondering how seriously to take this amber warning cos although it includes the Black Isle, it could be a case of crying wolf from the MetO. Normally I'd say we'll get nothing from an easterly so I'm going to stick with that for now.

Dunno which is worse, no ppn at all, or watching it all come down as sleet (a waste of good ppn)! Equally annoying.

Wet snow falling here now. Apparently the M77 is covered over again slightly higher up.

Turning pretty rapidly to proper snow again here, and I think at least some chance it'll lie - the nearest weather station reporting 0.7/0.3C.

Still time to firm up on the details of the easterly but really, sub -8C (and indeed -10C) uppers and an easterly flow for a few days at least is an excellent starting point.

Yeah we do need the ppn though. (stuck record syndrome) My current forecast is dry all the way through F F S

Oh look and now one of the cats has sicked up on the hearth. No pictures would do it justice.

Looks like a Deeside streamer under way. Should be good for @Mair Snaw whever the F K he's got to.

I don't buy the latest UKV for Sunday and Monday, tends to under do convection to a quite an extent anyways.

Wet snow here now also and starting to make an attempt at lying. Yes, pretty white on the M77 up around Floak apparently.

I mean, it's possible but I'd imagine the models are underestimating the convection a fair bit as usual.

I'll take a closer look at the forecast soundings tomorrow (fat lot of good that was the other day though) and see if there's anything we can take from it, ideally a lot of snow.

Yes not really expecting much but just preparing.Remember 2018 we just got -5 c all day for a few days and no snow while  Aurora Storm in East Lothian  was buried and was sending lots of pictures. Very sympathetic of my daughter.

what we have here at the moment is what I would constitute a sleety mess, doesn't know if I wants to snow fully or be rain. one minute it is snowing the next raining.

1.3/-0.1 currently in Banchory, according to the radar I'm sitting under snow falling but not according to any of the lamp posts round here I'm not. We've had a few wet snow showers here today and I'm going to hope that the snow gets heavier and drier as the evening progresses.  Hopeful of a Deeside streamer.
