It's stopped raining...!!

Morning all! Snaw shields intact as expected and it looks like they'll stay that way for the forseeable future. Bitter cold wind out there, current temp around 3c but the wind chill is bringing that down considerably. Have fun in the snaw when it arrives you Lucky Kilties!

Morning all,

Absolutely foul out there. Leuchars reporting 3c/1c with a mean 35mph easterly wind and driving rain. We’re even more exposed out here in Pittenweem. No wonder the saying ‘When the wind is from the east, 'tis neither good for man nor beast.’

Snow line here looks to be about 200m or so. Grey, wet and miserable at 101 level after heading to bed with horizontal sleet lashing down! A really quite hideous 24hrs despite a couple of periods of proper snow falling! 

Really hoping the prize is as good as modelled for all of us after enduring this pish

Well....it's been snowing all night but you wouldn't know it. I was a bit surprised to begin with but, having now been outside (BRIEFLY!) it's pretty obvious why cover hasn't changed much. It's very wet, so anything that's falling is merely replacing what's melting. Having said that, we're now down to 1C from a high 1.6C early this morning....

Currently snowing as a shower has hit, but there's only been a smattering overnight by the looks of it. Temp currently 0.1/-0.6C and it looks to have been bouncing around just over freezing all night. 

Models looking encouraging this morning and it'll be illuminating to see what happens with the MetO warnings when the are updated later this morning.

Finally looks like tiny flakes falling, what sna we had lying yesterday got a real scare overnight but paths looking icy.

 Here’s the current state of affairs from my pws, at least the radar’s looking better for me this morning.

Continuing attempts at wet snaw this morning here, but mainly a load of cauld sleety p1sh falling, turning what's left of the snowcrete into a skittery mess. Currently 0.9°C/0°

Some interesting adjectives used in here this morning!

 

Pishy, Muck, Skittery......and I can assure you the spellcheck does NOT compute!!   Ah the Scots, God love 'em!

My current situation weatherwise can include all of the above.   Have to rush though as off to the Vets with the dog.   He appears to have pulled a tendon after a slip yesterday and cannot walk this morning.   A bit like me most mornings!!

1.7c/1.1c/ which is almost a copy and paste from yesterday!

Weather warnings being updated, hard to keep up with them all! The Scotland wide (mostly) warning has been brought forward to start at 6pm tomorrow which is a good sign. Lets see what is next!

Now got graupel falling in this latest shower and temperature dropping to 1.6c, so heading in the right direction.

Even got glimpses of sun to the south!

Those are barbed troughs

We should be getting to the time where we are seeing close to how things will play out, the low tries to take an un logical route and go north but realises nope canny do that with the high pressure stopping it and also the cold 850s pushing west so it has to move in one of the southerly directions that gets the flow in from the east
