As a newbie. Sitting in Midlothian with leaden skies. And drizzle with odd flake of snow can I surmise the main event will be Saturday,Sunday and Monday ? I don’t see anything coming of this today in my neck of the woods

I think the next wave could be a bit more promising - that band seemed to push temperatures down a fair bit so we're seeing more like 0C across South Lanarkshire and higher bits of West Lothian and 1-2C rather than 2-3C a bit lower down.

interesting the weather warnings for later in the week are "severe" for impact and "low" for likelihood.  I can see that getting upgraded nearer the time *if* the ECM is correct!

@CatchMyDrift beat me to it!!

Heavy snow here now, not settling....yet

I will be heading to East Kilbride soon to work. I imagine it will already be white up there

Pouring rain here the heaviest it's been, I'm staring hard and maybe imagining the slightest hint of sleet

Good upgrade on the meto text forecast, no mention of rain/sleet from Thursday!

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Snow or snow showers will continue to feed in across the region over the coming days with significant snowfall over higher ground, and to all levels by the weekend

Sorry...that was the Strathclyde forecast, the Fife forecast still mentions rain/sleet possible at the coast....

Strange, the hill behind me starting to turn white, can see big curtains of snow hitting it, but flakes just blowing around in wind here. Only about another 100 feet up, show's the difference some height can make and away from built up area.

The higher ground (150m or so ASL) I can see out my window is starting to turn white (the top part of Hamilton and the Glassford/Stonehouse neck of the woods) but still just wet ground here, despite a heavier burst or two. I have my desk set up looking out the window so I can distract myself from work by checking out the weather situation

Snow is fairly heavy now but with an obvious wet baws issue!

Yeah, strange sort of day with the snow. At one point mid morning it was looking like we were going to get a decent covering then it fizzled out and melted and now it’s trying it’s hardest to settle again but just sticking on grass at moment.
