Next week is shaping up to be very exciting! Especially for our usual high ground folk! Low ground...we are in with a shout! 

I just keep thinking back to how crap last Winter was for many of us! So nice to experience a proper Winter again with sustained cold spells/plenty of snowfall throughout Scotland in all three Winter months. (February still TBC )

Thoughts on chances for low ground near us? I was hopeful because of the stalling nature to the front

Nice setup.... Ive bought an intex one to go on new patio.... Just waiting on the spring as was worried about running it in winter with the advice given.... Would want to at least run it for a few months before a winter and maybe build a box around the heater and insulate etc... Plan to get a wooden gazebo built over the patio aswell and a fridge and TV to complete the setup that's the dream will see how far I get.

We have a 2.5m*2.5m shed, projector with Now TV stick. As long as you keep it heated, winter not an issue. Just waiting on a good dump of snaw now to get out and make snaw angels in the buff.

Temperature continuing to fall thanks to broken cloud overhead, now -2.3c. Great view of the moon however, still trying to get to grips with the low light camera app tho.

Overall another very useable day, though not as sunny as forecast.

Considering the overnight low, impressive that the daytime max got up to 3.5c.

Didn't last long as -1c by 4pm, and stayed at that value until c.8pm when it dipped down to -3c.  Surprisingly the temperature has now gone back up to -2c so in the balance if we repeat the -7c of last night.

A huge amount of uncertainty at day 5 still. Some Ensembles have the low across Scotland bringing milder conditions for quite a few, others have the low in the N sea , others have almost no low with a slack easterly and some have a streaming easterly at day 5 with the -10C isotherm with nearly no low.

A visitor to the thread a few days ago asked how the mountains were doing with snow up here. This photo from Gary Tarmachan on Twitter of the Ptarmigan restaurant at Cairngorm gives a clue.  
Here been pretty much dry since lunchtime but staying cold.

I see the daft thread is getting wound up again...I don't blame them because if this comes off we'll be up to our neck's in snaw

The Met Office is now showing sleet/snow here from Monday evening right through till Thursday early doors...the Beeb on the other hand is showing light snow / sleet / rain...I wonder how far off they will be this time.

 pictures of such things could send the thread in a different direction. as @MAXcrazystormsays a ridiculous amount of options on the table, tuesday snow to lower levels more feasible perhaps after tonights runs but will have no idea until.................. Tuesday

all roads leading to cold it seems or a continuation of cold for us and less marginal, we would be incredibly unlucky to miss out.

As I’m struggling to sleep, what better way to spend the time than looking at different weather stations stats? Current temperatures being recorded on Wunderground along the Dee Valley and around Strathdon show that we could wel get close to that -18c by the end of the night that @Mr Frost mentioned. I know these aren’t official stations but I don’t suppose they’ll be too far out?

Lowest "official" UK temperature of winter so far was equalled last night - BBC weather.

Low of -6.7C here but currently slightly warmer at -6.2C. Wunderground showing temps of -8 to -9C down the hill in Alford itself, and the coldest I can currently see is -13C out near Cockbridge.

Morning all from MQ Towers! Last few days have been really lovely here, frosty, white, clear skies, FAB! I'm not too bothered about not getting any snow if it remains like this, which, according to charts, it may do for at least the next week and maybe a bit further on! Snaw forecast for some very excited Peeplings, so you know what to do ..... out with the cameras Guys! Currently -1.7c here, reached a low of -2.2c overnight. Happy days!

Met automated forecast hinting of the possibility of a few snow showers on Monday and then a marginal mess on Tuesday! Who knows what will fall!
