Maximum of 0c today so our third ice day this winter.In spite of the sunshine rolling out the electric fence for a new patch of turnips was a chilly job but a lot better than previous days this week. A selection of phone photos follows from around the Firth this afternoon.Currently -2c

A few hours later, and we are now sitting at -4.2C, dropped 1C in the last hour. Slightly concerned about the potential for damage from freezing pipes tonight, if it keeps dropping at this speed!

Same here. A high of 0.4C! I really hoped we'd scrape an ice day but nope. Nudged above freezing between 13:30 and 15:30. Not had an ice day here since BFTE in 2018. The wait continues....

It's quite fascinating actually knowing when you went above freezing and for how long - we hit 0C at 12:29 and then climbed to 0.3 and dropped back to 0 at 14:20

Lovely photos everyone. Beautiful day in Aberdeenshire too with perfect XC skiing conditions in the forest. Difficult to judge depth but could easily be over a metre of level snow lying in places.

Just in from an hour's jaunt around the fields actually.

I'd recommend them, if you're out and about at lot. There are some winters when they don't get used at all, but this winter they've been out most weeks. They're not a silver bullet for deep snow by any means and will never match skis for flotation. Sometimes you sink as much as anyone else, but even on those days it's never as bad as the 'post holers' are having to deal with

However, the snow that most of us have got at the moment is perfect for them. A bit of consolidation from being blown about, with some sun on it and then a freeze, and inches of hoar frost crystals sitting on top Yesterday the comparison between having them, and not having them, was stark:

Evening all

Hope you are all well.

Frustrating couple of days here! Been surrounded with wintry/snow showers at times but unfortunately the most intense ones have either went North or South of me! Couple that did make it overhead delivered snow flurries.

That theme continues through the remainder of the weekend - wee signal though for Sunday evening into Monday morning for more widespread wintry/snow showers.

Quick look further ahead - Tuesday is looking mainly dry/sunny! Risk of rain/sleet/snow now pushed back to Wednesday.
