Well, that was suprising, in a good way  Now I know how those who normally miss out feel, but tonight for once I've managed to get something

I'm really hoping that this means tomorrow will be mega - but I know it doesn't necessarily work like that sadly!

Snowing steady 6 miles SE Perth at 40m

[A Winter's Tale]

Just wet sleety snow just now. I think most of action tomorrow will be to the east of here where there could be sine significant accumulations. There haven’t been too many notable frontal snowfalls in recent years and I think tomorrow won’t be the last oppurtunity this winter. I’m expecting no more than a couple of inches at best tomorrow though I’m hoping for a surprise. 

It’s been a pretty decent start to the winter - a big improvement on the last couple of years - and the first half of January was pretty cold with a mean of 0.4 at Glasgow Airport and the coldest minimum since 2010. It hasn’t been spectacular on the snow front though there have been a few nice falls of snow and I’m hoping the second half of the winter will deliver something memorable.

0.4c/0.1c snowing, very fine flakes.  Grass, hedges, cars etc now white.

See that 61cm of snow that you were talking about earlier. Did that include tonight’s snow or is this an extra bonus?

Snawing since around 7 this evening and settling readily after a cauld and foggy day here. Still have most of the cover from the mini-whumphings last week. Looks like it's on for a while, too. Currently, -0.1°C/-1°C.

3cm here now. Not as cold as folk elsewhere though, hovering around 1.1C so I expect a repeat of last week when, despite it snizzling all night, I awoke to less snow than when I went to bed.

All but gone off now, not that it’s been lying here. Heavier band just sitting north of here. But isn’t moving this way. Exactly the same as the last time and seen it other times before. Never does that with the rain!

Starting to lie on the cars here despite not really getting the heavier band, certainly nice to see it settling again!

Quite glad I held off on doing a summary of the 15Z UKV because, well here's a comparison between it and the 18Z UKV:

I expect another 4 upgrades and 2 downgrades before morning
