interesting that the forecast didn't really call out snow tonight... let's hope they extend the MetO warning area to more of Scotland later!

For some bizarre reason the snow possibility tonight is tucked away in the yellow warning for rain that covers much of Southern Scotland. First time I think I've seen it presented like that.

It must be a decent winter if you're back

I think the fact that there could be snow on the ground for a good part of central and southern Scotland tomorrow should help keep temperatures a fraction lower than what might have been otherwise expected and would also help a little before the precipitation moves in.

Every little thing helps when there are margins involved. ❄️

Spells of snow are likely to continue in some areas overnight. The snow will tend to become lighter and patchier later in the night, but may continue in some places during Wednesday morning. Most of the snow will be in areas above 100-200 m with accumulations of 2-5 cm are expected above around 150 m. Meanwhile, close to 10 cm could fall above 300 m over southern Scotland. Icy stretches are also possible for some, mainly over northern parts of the warning area.

just changed the yellow warning 10 mins ago for Edinburgh to include the above... after-timers!!

What do you mean by the radar part, Dark green colours here and still coming down quite decently.

I mean how the precipitation is moving and the changing intensities....Hard to gauge what's coming and for how long with my limited knowledge.
