Morning all! Current temp 3c, cloudy with light breeze. Glorious sunrise, but as usual I didn't have my camera to hand! Ah well, red sky in morning etc, etc. It's going to be a rubbish day weather wise here, so hope you all get buckets o' snaw! No need for me to look out my newly purchased snaw shovel yet! ❄️⛄

Just started here too. Tinkle tinkle as it falls into the trees and is a wee bit surreal. If I look east I can see the edge of the cloud Peebles way with the sun slowly coming up. Currently -1.1°C and with a low earlier of -3.0°C it's my twenty seventh air frost.

I can't ever recall having experienced freezing rain before.  Would like to hear it though.

4 gritter convoy just passed the front window from the gritting station down the road a bit.  (Something's up!)

It does seem that around the 20th January we get the Beast from the east.

Watching the 6Z GFS come in. Increasingly concerned about freezing rain. Big time inversion aloft with below 0 temps at 925mb and above 0 at 850. Only saving grace is the timing (late afternoon) means that surface temps will be in the 1-3 degree range, which may mitigate some of the freezing rain threat. However, any areas that are sheltered or slightly elevated (and therefore will have surface temps close to 0) are at risk!

Yeah, I think the freezing rain threat is being a bit underplayed. Could make for some really hazardous travel this afternoon.
