Gritters oot in convoy now.   I suspect that will go on through the night.

Can't help feeling that this winter is going to hold a few surprises.

I have the same feeling in my water that the last week of January and the 1st week of February are going to be special

1.1°C and snowing. Suppose I might get up from my comfy chair next to the coal fire, disturb my ginger Tom kitten Mojo and have a look if it's sticking.

You could always get someone else to go? 

Jeeves, take the ruler and check the snow depth, old chap. Record snow type, wet & dry bulb and measure cloud cover while you're there.

Only thing it's going to be good for is a windscreen coated in brittle frozen slush at 07:30.

Wet baws can be a bugger sometimes! Well over an hour of snow and a temp of 0.1c and pretty much hee haw to show for it

Almost 2hrs of snow here but nothing settled really. Some evidence on the grass, car and the bin but that's about it!

Not much proper lying snow left in the village after the late afternoon rain (pffft) but what is left is now frozen solid at -2.5C.   For some unknown reason I'm recording lower temps than others nearby. Instrumentation error perhaps; theirs, not mine, of course.

That is possible but most of the cold that comes down the hill (from my sister's place and thereabouts of course, where the snow still sticks to the trees) has other easier routes downhill, mainly via the episcopal church to the harbour.

Morning all! Temp hovering around the 3c mark, up from -0.6c overnight. Calm and dry and very, very green ootbye! So, since there is nothing of any interest up here, I'll continue to drool over the charts from about 19th/20th of this month and ensure that I have suitable supplies in. Y'know, essentials like coal and wood, peat and wine, flour and whisky, pasta and beer. Never let it be said that I dinnae take care o' masel!

It really doesn't so I'm not expecting much. Charts suggesting a snow to rain to snow event. Met suggesting rain to snow. We'll see what happens - been a different kind of winter so far so you never know!

Here’s some of last night’s Aurora from round here. Apologies, the pics are from my phone’s night-mode so aren’t the best. Got the alert from the app and headed out, have had many non-events (driving about in all hours in pyjamas) so it was great to see. Been about 3 years since last time we caught it. Albeit more faint this time. Still, always a wonderful sight
