Just saw the BBC and STV weather reports on the tv there, both mentioned significant snow falls possible in Lothian, borders and lanarkshire tonight due to a streamer expected to set up. I'm surprised to be honest as I thought the flow would just be that little bit too weak being so close to the center of the high but they have commited.

Met office text also mentions slight snowfalls across lanarkshire in their text too.

Interesting! From the graphic on the BBC, and a quick glance at some charts, it looks like around about  Biggar will probably be the prime location give or take.

Another uninspiring day so far; overcast, calm and 2c.

Ground smothered in black ice after a overnight low of -0.9c.

Air seems milder than of late as the ice is melting merrily off the trees etc where it remained frozen yesterday.

Nothing of note in the Met Office forecast for here for the next few days, if anything they suggest temperatures are on the rise, especially over the weekend.

Fortunate to have no issues with ice here. It’s been a milder day with temperatures touching 5c earlier. Light rain passing through at the moment.

Shows up nicely on Euro4 but the Met are having none of it below 200m.

Yeah I'd tend to agree with the Met Office on this one. Sitting at just over 3º here in southern Edinburgh, with a RH of 90%. Temperature hasn't moved much in over 6 hours. If any of these little convergence zones pass overnight, may be helped somewhat by dirunal temperatures. Otherwise, it's going to be hard to get anything to accumulate on anything but grassy surfaces around me.

I think this may be a mistake on the netweather radar, in the space of 5 minutes, all the rain showers changed to sleet or snow over pretty much the whole of the UK

Looks like the forth streamer is setting up right on cue ...

Hopefully it will continue on the current track for a while yet with the rain largely missing us until later tonight when there is the slimest of chances of anything more interesting!

Biggar wasn't a bad guess...

Red dot is Biggar high school

Needs more time to turn more wintery though by the looks of it. Probably plenty more freezing rain about tonight

Check out the Traffic Scotland A68 webcams at Soutra 1200ft and Carter Bar 1350ft. Suspect the snow line will be dropping through the night and a good covering across central parts of the borders and far south of Lanarkshire could be on the cards by morning.
