Just be glad it isn't Aberdeenshire council.  There is a notorious crossroads near here that is well sheltered and freezes at the slightest hint of frost.

Thus, plenty of minor accidents.

So the locals put in a request for a grit bin next to it.  This gets refused by the council as apparently the roads at that point have minimal inclination and good visibility which negates the need for one!!  End result local businessman buys a bin for the community and the community council fills it up when the council forgets/refuses to do so.  As one of the local councillors put it to me, the council is there to spend the least money!  You despair at times....

Take care all, it sounds dangerously icy out there. No such issues here (at least for now) with the air temperature at 3.2c. We did have a graupel shower earlier so it was fun to see some sort of wintry precipitation!

Thats it im done....you have wintry precipitation while all i have is rain.

I do agree that is it bizarre that if there is a dusting of snow our pavements have mini ploughs on them when the snow is easy to walk on but weather like this and noone comes near us and the conditions are so much worse than snow for risk to people of falling.

Neighbour who  a contracting buisness has just posted on his website a picture of a 200 horsepower tractor and front mounted v snowplough on the local windfarm about 12 miles from here today.                         Appears to be a depth of about 2 feet.    Height above sea level is about a 1000 feet

Very heavy showers coming through here now and heading upriver towards Perth. A mix of rain, hail and sleet. Some bigger flakes appearing in the heavy stuff! It does look out to sea as if our line of showers is petering out a bit but a definite line forming and heading towards East Lothian.

Morning all,

Showers have died out here now, temperature remained between 3c and 4c all night with the onshore flow so ice not a problem here on the coast.

Ah yes but I’ve still not seen a snowflake falling this winter! Though to be fair around 50% of the winters I’ve spent in the East Neuk have been without any lying snow so that’s not particularly unusual.

Good morning from a beautiful and frosty Skye! Temp currently around the -2c mark, clear skies, and no wind. Love it! Another walk on the cards today, it's too good a chance to miss. On yesterday's walk I saw the local golden eagle. Been seen quite a lot over the last few days, once fairly close to my back door. Also saw two otters playing on the shore last week. This seen from my bedroom window. How lucky am I?

This is the road outside, all from overnight rain freezing on it. There was no snow left apart from the tiniest bit next to the kerb.

A lot of showers overnight but not much snow gain on the Edinburgh side of the Pentlands  so it must’ve been the inland hills which caught any snowfall

Pure sheet ice outside so I'm staying in. The hospital will be filing up with broken collar bones and ankles today. No idea of the temp, we really need to get a weather station, the possessed Polish one got thrown in the bin during the move.

Daughter, who is back home in W Lothian, reports that she has given up on her dog walk this morning as the pavements are treacherous with ice. 

Looks just as icy here on Deeside and just heard the two Fire & Rescue trucks head to an emergency somewhere on the A980/B977, presumably attending a crash. Suspect I might hear them a few times as work resumes for essential workers.

My weather station reporting 0.3c, up from an overnight low of -0.9c, DP currently -0.3c.

The Hills are white again and a sprinkling sticking to the Icy roads and paths hopefully making them less treacherous?

Similar here to the rest of the central belt. Very thick black ice out there. Roads appear negotiable but pavements are awful.

Snow is still mostly intact in East Kilbride on Grass. Last night was warmer than recent nights though.

I see, there was plans to put path in from Busby to Linn Park, guess they haven't done that.

Morning.

Stats have hardly changed at all over the last 24hrs.   Sitting at 1.7c/0.8/1031.5mbs/slight breeze.  Still got the ice thing going on though.

Gritters were working through the night.   As quick as they were being filled up they were out again.   Cloudier here this morning.

Thick black ice here too and even slippier than the previous lot. I just gave up on trying to walk to the local shop. Watched my neighbour struggle to get his car out of the street and he is an advanced police driver.
Anyone know how the main roads are and also the side roads in Glasgow? My daughter is supposed to be driving through there to start work tomorrow and is getting a bit panicky about it.

Any side areas are like an icerink, black ice alert! This is east glasgow 1 min from a main A road.  Temp 1.7 feels like -2.  I nearly slipped going out to take this picture, all in the name of meteorology lol!
