Your probably right  that they use old graphics,  but are the updated ECM charts that they use any better than the previous run ?

Slightly colder according to Mr Murr... GFS still has a snowy streamer setting up Monday evening and lasting into Wednesday so I wouldn’t say hope is all lost. I know ECM is regarded the most accurate model but not like it’s never been wrong before !

There have been many more showers here today than models expected, the dew points have been lower than expected in some places at least, the BBC hasn’t covered itself in glory lately, let’s not all give up just yet

Regarding any snow prospects for the SE, the BBC & Metoffice short range forecasts have been pretty spot on for a few days. Some people on this forum just seem to see what they want to see.

As you can see from the below, the Met Office is predicting rain to snow for my location in NW Kent Monday night through to Tuesday morning and a high of 3˚c all week. I won't be too thrilled if it's only cold rain by Saturday!

From the past decade of model watching, have to agree with their output. Would love to be wrong, but time and again it's proved right.

Yes a thouroughly miserable run from todays 12z ECM even backing down further on any hint of snow for the SE and all the way out to Day 10 not a grain of snow in sight. In fact tomorrow if your South and East of the Capital it looks a rough day with rain from 04z tomorrow morning for possibly 12 hours just imagine if this was an area of Snow.

End of the week looks like drying out from the North with temps around 6-7c by Friday

Meh

Lets hope the end of Jan and start of Feb is the next point of Interest for us in the South East and the weather gods balance out the goodies meaning the rest of the Uk can salivate at us getting the snow, key areas to watch over the next 2 weeks is an area from Germany Northwards to see if Northern Europe can cool down for the next easterly shot

I go with the London Golf Club forecast, rather than Hartley because it's more indicative of what's going to happen near or on the tops of the Downs - it can snow and settle in New Ash Green, be patchy cover in Hartley, non-existent in Longfield, and bone dry by the time you get to Dartford or Gravesend if you're travelling towards the estuary. Apologies this is very parochial but every mile counts!

1st bit of good news for the first half of this week, Euro 4 has an accumulation in the same area.

South Downs could be the place to be

so, just to summarise:-

  1. it's winter.
  2. its cold
  3. it isn't looking snowy for the foreseeable.
  4. my gas bill will be higher than the last few years.
  5. it's going to continue been winter until spring arrives.

i think thats probably more factual than any model will ever be

Nope. Latest ECM has downgraded the uppers to -4 for most of the south if the region Mon / Tues. Old graphics would have been better lol.  we need -6 at least as the air temp/ DP is marginal. It could revert back tomorrow but for now it’s looking like rain / sleet with any snow reserved fir highest ground or lower areas if there is some really heavy bursts
