I am actually not looking forward to tonight’s runs, have a feeling snow chances will disappear and gfs will move towards ecm and ukm really hope I’m wrong

Yep, still feel we could see a few surprises in this easterly. Even more so overnight when DPs etc become more favourable. Then hopefully GFS is correct for the end of the week and brings us all a dumping without anyone missing out!

It will be utter carnage in mod thread from 3.00pm today..06z is on its own, but is refusing to UK, Ec way, proper nail biting later. I think dry January has also left the building.. Oh my if the GFS gets this right. Satellite images of the green UK will be pure white..

Already some fairly beefy looking showers off the coast of EA and into Kent, so if things did fall right over the coming days. You'd expect some fairly heavy snow showers and even better streamers to set up!

Looking at this as an outline, Easternly Fed Cold Air will most likely bring Snow and Sleet and is looking very standstill bringing many Days Chance Of Snow before Possibly A More Northernly Turn But This could change.

BBC finally giving something other than rain symbols, although today looks too mild even for sleet. So they're probably still wrong

Happy to report rain intermixed with the odd snow flake!

Just made the mistake of trawling through the MAD thread...

GFS on its own”

“Winter over”

”Relying on SSW”

”Return to Zonal soon”

”Make the most of any sleet this week”

Toys all over the place

Anyone got any Prozac?

The cut off Easternly Airflow  is eventually replaced by An Arctic Northernly which is going further South than Normal and we'll be getting around the same amount of Snow Days that The Midlands Were But This Could All Change

Yep! nothing changes in the mod thread...New Year same old same there. With the PV so quiet for the last few weeks it's bound to wake up at some time (that's if the Euro's are correct), what happens later on is another matter but I wouldn't hang my hat on a SSW to bring in actual noteworthy cold.

Haha. Christ this can be a super depressing hobby can’t it. Has to be said though, it has gone a little Pete Tong hasn’t it. GFS v EC & UKMO...Let’s see if we can squeeze a light dusting Tues into Wednesday and worry about the aftermath later I suppose.

I really am not getting my hopes up at all this morning we are putting our eggs all into one basket and with that basket being the gfs vs ecm and ukmo I don’t fancy my chances, I am fully expecting to see a gfs downgrade today/tonight for my area for Monday and Tuesday, on a slight brighter note there is still plenty of time for the other models to fall in line regarding next weekend

Temps looking a bit to high to my untrained eye over the coming days, possibly a window of opportunity Tuesday evening but pretty slim pickings. Might be mid Jan before any real opportunity arrives for us in the SE but I thought that 2 weeks ago for the beginning of Jan based on the charts back then, So who knows.....

Snow more a posibillty after the gfs 06 run, upto end of week, might even see the BBC forecasters mention Snow in the forecast for our region soon, can you believe it!

Also watch the met update the text forecasts in the next 24 hours in regard to snow.

They do constantly mention the chance of snow hazards in there long term forecast but how many times have we seen the gfs out on its own to then change closer to the time ? To many times for my liking but I hope you are right !

Plenty of showers have passed through this end of the Estuary this morning, shame it’s not of the white sort. But, it’s showing convection isn’t the problem I suppose. Just need to get the parameters aligned. Still not convinced personally but let’s hope as we move in towards Tue/Weds we are the right side of marginal.
