Showers seem to be developing on the radar, also been watching that band in the channel getting closer to the coast, wondering if we may get a dusting of snow overnight

Not unless DP drops it's still positive in Dover, may be in land though, or up high.

Still very uncertain for the next few days. I am hopeful that some will see snow falling from the sky.

Cherry picked, but you can see 850s dropping to around -9C in that finger of cold air moving from Scandinavia. It looks like more persistent precipitation will threaten Kent and perhaps areas further north and west of here (Possibly up the coast of Essex and Suffolk perhaps).

Further north, I would expect to see precipitation moving in from the north sea, given my location there is the chance of a streamer setting up from the Wash across northern parts of Cambridgeshire into Northamptonshire. Not confident on this at the moment at all.

Best chance of snow seems to be from late afternoon on Monday until Wednesday where it is likely that we will lose the wind of the north sea.

Steve is this the sort of risk area for streamers next week? With red area being more at risk of heavier precipitation?

A smidge To far south... Thats a mid kent clipper for NE winds.

Ahem. Adjust that North about 5 miles and I’d say it’s bang on

Another very good GFS with lots of potential showers of sleet and snow for the SE these snapshots mainly for the West of Kent I've taken but other timeframes good for even East coastal areas and further North and West in the region particularly from the post Thursday/Friday event

Outrageous GFS 00z..

East - Cold

North - Cold

East again - Cold

To think people are still moaning about it.  So what if it don't snow in the next week or so. Just look at the setup and POTENTIAL for something quite special. Its only the start of January and another 2 months of proper winter yet!!

Issue with people these days is they always want one better. Always want one better than 2010 or 2018. Most of us would be praying that anything close to what we have now would come off.

The UKMO gives us that all to familiar dose of reality this morning.

Currently laying in bed and I can here heavy rain showers pounding the window.
Surely UKMO can’t be wrong at T120.

It's the uk, and it's the weather lol, it will do what it wants, we could have every model, bar one, churning out snow charts galore, and you can bet your house, that that one model will be right, ha ha

The METO outlook is very uninspiring to say the least for this easterly, not even the mention of wintry showers let alone snow showers!

ECM pretty much sides with the UKMO this morning, GFS starting to look on it's own now.

Looks like we've gotta keep our fingers crossed that this SSW works in our favour, otherwise things are going downhill in terms of cold and snow. (Although when you've not even seen any snow yet, I'm not sure things can even go anymore downhill)

I still don’t know why we keep getting caught up in it all. To have boom charts being churned out day after day for it then to just disappear is just laughable.  Sure this maybe the SSW playing havoc. Equally it’s just as likely it isn’t and we’ll get cold, dank nothingness til end of February. The UK really is the worst place to be if you like snow, for our latitude anyway. Dire

Yep, SE is rubbish for snow.

Only positive are the improving summers.

Exactly, thank goodness we seem to have good summers now.

Some rain been about here in Chelmsford. I can confirm it was cold rain.

Looks like we'll get a small window early next week then a waiting game again. I expect this afternoon's output to firm up on the mid range tbh, even if the GFS is still chasing rainbows on its own.

Not too much cause for disappointment though, since we can't say this has been wholly unexpected?

Positives are 1. We might see the models suddenly sniff out a new trend soon as the SSW works it's way down, and 2. At least we haven't had a 'proper' easterly cancelled at a few days notice! That's far, far worse than a crap easterly actually arriving in my book!
