Since last night when we had dropped to 4.6c the temperature has alternated between 4.1 and 4.9c, it obviously needs to get down lower, tonight certainly has possibilities.

The most the bbc give me in darlington is 4 hrs of sleet between 01.00 - 05.00 then back to rain. We shall see I suppose.

The BBC app for me has sleet from 10pm all the way til 8am tomorrow. The weather app on my phone has sleet at 10pm turning to snow at midnight for 5 hours then back to sleet. Met office have 3 hours of sleet from 2am. Going to be a wait and see I think

During last week's marginal event the met office had it as all rain/sleet for me and I did end up with a cm or 2 of slush before it turned back to rain. And they quite often have temps a degree higher than what actually transpires. Hopefully wake up tomorrow morning to a covering and not another disappointment lol

Current radar and you can see the colder air digging into the north west of the system now

I am not convinced that we will see anything white on the ground from this,  hope I am wrong but has Northeastsnow has mentioned it looks more like a hills/ Durham /Northumberland event.

But like most on here will be keeping a close eye on the lampposts !!!

I know I'm basically "nowcasting" but this looks quite interesting for Hexham? We could get a bit or a lot overnight? Especially with a little height (140m for me). What do others think?

Temperature falling fast down to 2.4 degrees in the garden at 4.30pm

I'm guessing it might be similar to last weeks snow. I think you have the altitude for it. Fingers crossed but the word marginal comes to mind!

Had about 6-7 cm last Thursday morning. Seems to come on a Thursday to make it difficult for our "bin-men" - we are on quite a steep hill.

I agree Adrian - probably same places as last week, but there was some in the town at Hexham last week not just the hills.

I can’t see anything of note tonight other than the usual places. That low on Saturday now looks like it’s further North, one to watch for sure as it could be good for us.

Surely for places such as Teesside, they are going to be far too saturated for any snow to be beneficial anyway and thats if it does snow.

I think that is the same across the whole of the NE everywhere is saturated, the Tees has burst its banks in a few places aswell

dollops of sleet showing amongst the rain in lowland Westmoor now - gives me a bit hope that it might turn to snow later

Snowing here as well, slight covering on grassed areas.

Should intensify/fall to lower levels as the LP deepens.

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
