The front has pretty much cleared the north east already. Heavy rain against the window through the night and sounds pretty breezy too

As the current cold spell seems to be ending today I thought I’d look back on how it was up here. Started Christmas Eve and lasted till today. Coldest temp was -11.2 last Friday night. Coldest day max was -3.2 on Thursday gone. Snow on the ground for 15 days(and counting) and max depth was 26cms as of last night. Can probably add a few cms during the night but rain now. Overall I’d say 6/10 up here in my part of Northumberland.

Well , I woke up this morning to another light covering of yukky slush, not had proper lying crunchy snow yet this winter IMBY, and we are now just started the 2nd half of the winter, still time I suppose

Been a pretty dreadful winter so far for Teesside. Had one decent snowfall which went as quick as it came, a couple of very icy mornings but other than that nothing much of note. Really hope this SSW kicks in otherwise it’s going to be another let down.

Looking like there will be a long drawn easterly from Russia................... Going past to the north of Scotland to the eastern seaboard

The weather looks to be in the headlines again this week, especially if the GFS is near the mark.

Thursday morning.

Very marginal for lower ground. I suspect places like Consett will have blizzard conditions if this was to verify

Weather warning again for... rain.
I guarantee this one will happen lol.

Looks like flooding could be an issue for some.

There is a very interesting article on the strat thread by Rapido regarding the similarities between this winter and that of 1929. Do not give up hope there appears to be promising signs come the end of January.

Not sure as I can see this being rain near the coast again. Favours the same spots again.

A couple of gefs ensembles give 25cm for stockton.

It does look marginal again but less marginal than last week. Colder uppers and dew points tuck into the system so definitely worth keeping an eye on. Higher levels again look to get pasted.
