Another dreadful day apart from the odd shower are we expecting anything of note or the same old dross? This mornings snow has all but gone.

There has been murmurs about the Scottish stuff spinning around and heading down our way but i'm not holding out hope. Similar things have been said all week. It's always seemed so near yet so far away from us.

There was a rumour that they'd be 5-10cms everywhere by now too

I got shot down on Saturday night, Sunday night and on Monday for saying I was disappointed and that I didn't expect much. It's coming, it's coming I was told. To be fair, it looks like it might have been but was snatched away at every opportunity.

What time are the winds meant to switch north east? Showers are now pretty much coming in from a straight easterly direction now as apposed to east north east this morning

The only the only thing that's coming is disappointment, followed by spring!

Showers continuing to pile in, if not hit & miss

Must say I'm very disappointed with today's scant pickings in darlo. One great shower at 7.30 and mostly piddling dross after that. Now I'm not saying this easterly has failed because nationwide it hasn't. Scotland the SE, Yorkshire hell even Northumberland, have all done very well but everything that could have gone badly for us did. We have 3 days left of this easterly and let's be honest, who amongst us is expecting anything but dross at this stage?

To be honest mate that pic sums everything up really, look at the beefy showers dropping copious amounts of snow into the borders then compare that to the thin gruel we in the rest of the NE have had to put up with.

Sure this thread is full of the unluckiest people in the NE

Snow showers do look that they becoming more numerous.

That area to the north slowly pushing southwards now.

If you get to drive around, everywhere seems pretty white and i have encountered lots of hail/snow showers both yesterday and today.

These shower scenario always leave some disappointed unfortunately.

Hopefully your turn tonight

The trigger is this low currently in the bay of biscay. The closer the centre gets to the white line the more easterly the winds will become, but as soon as it passes the white line and starts heading through France our winds will turn Ne'ly.

One little flurry is our total snowfall or lack of it 8 miles from Newcastle, Some places in Scotland have had 15 cms + lucky sods.

Interesting that the main streamers seem to form in-between the land and sea between Denmark & Norway.

Lake effect I suspect & the winds from that direction will decide who gets beefier streamers
