2 lovely blobs heading my way.... amazing how they disintegrate as they get closer.

On another note checking sat 24 there does look to be more convection over the North Sea now that the clump of cloud is moving steadily south.

This zone has been where the disappointment lies, showers lighter and fewer.

Tuesday night we see a better set up as the wind turns more northeasterly and a convergence zone moves through our region, basically the one thats in southern Scotland now.

Any chance of that setting up shop a few more miles north? Lol

I remember reading about why that happens once but can't remember now and Google isn't helping. I did think the satellite was looking more promising but didn't want to say anything yet in case I jinx it!

Keep your eye on the stuff above the black line i drew.  I mean it'll be gone soon but that's the joy of radar watching

Newcastle will get a few decent blobs. Gateshead down to at least Darlo, naff all. We are literally the worst part of the entire East coast. Still it's not like there's nothing else good happening in life to make up for this disappointment. Oh, hang on, yeah, this was the little bit of joy in the lockdown, covid-ravaged winter. JFC.

Heavy graupel / snow here again.

Was just thinking was is it behind this graupel, it is something to do with the uppers ? Are they too cold so instead of flakes we get pellets of ice/snow  ?

My old gran used to often say it is too cold to snow , is there something in that ?

The more weather technical on here may have the answer ?

Showers are just too scattered.  I remember about this time of the 1991 blast showers frequency just kept  increasing on a day similar to today.  5" before bed.  I remember looking out and shower after shower was piling in no respite.  Whiteouts.  Woke up with 12" on the grass.  Must have been a proper streamer.  No such luck this time

But it can't just be luck. Something is preventing better shower formation. What is it?

The skew charts TWS showed earlier. Needs to be unstable right up to 750mb we aren't there until about Wednesday. The final day of the snowmageddon forecast

Agreed. It's not the big showers I'd hoped for but I feel lucky to have a few centimetres of dry snow outside. Look forward to seeing what happens tonight/tomorrow

Are these showers looking likely to hit where I am?
I’m starting to think I’m getting it all wrong looking at the radar .. which is very possible lol.
