Probably the second band.Either way looks like a wintry scene for many parts of the region tomorrow morning.

Just hope it retains coherence and doesn't break up this side of the Pennines, but the models seem far more bullish that it won't on this occasion.

Turning to sleety rain here. Things should be less marginal with the next band I think.

I got to admit I thought it would be a bit more wintry at lower levels in the NE, so frustrating, uppers of - 5 and light winds yet its still falling as rain it seems on the webcams.

The comparison between Gateshead Town centre and the QE hospital could not be more different. I do hope the freezing level does come down a little bit, uppers are forecast to go colder but only a little bit.

Yes uppers are dropping through the night so still hope that most of us will get a good covering. 0600 looks prime time for heavy precipitation and colder uppers.

Really do hope so but the rain at the moment is relentless and it’s soaked everywhere, if it does stop and cool then ice will be the main issue.

I would say for low lying areas it’s game over for us and we look to the next cold few days. I think this one has been pretty naff for most.
Here’s hoping the next one has some cold to it.

It's warming up near the east coast now with an onshore wind, South Shields has gone up from around 2C to 3.5C:

The next lot might fall as snow inland though, if it keeps its intensity.

Moderate Snow again in Penrith at -0.4c, 5cms lying now, I  didn't expect this band to reach here so its a real bonus after a nice snowy day

This week it has snowed every day and temperature hasn't been a problem, for once being well away from the north sea has been a positive advantage!
