Radar showing more organised showers heading towards Newcastle surrounding area.

Could be significant if they hit you.

Showers intensifying before they hit land...

Looking at the radar, some of these big showers could land just on ‘rush hour’!! Possibly cause quite a lot of issues on the roads.

Could these showers redeem this cold spell for many with periods of heavy snow later......?

Best activity looks like late afternoon, it's going to be an incredibly close call though, potentially very frustrating for some and amazing for others just up the road.

You’ve got to laugh at how shocking all the weather apps are!

BBC were the only one showing snow, and when I got up, it was showing heavy snow from 8am to 6pm.

Now, even though we can see showers coming through, it’s gone to no snow at all

Some hefty showers building off scarborough area, newcastle north looks in the firing line.

Wow nice surprise to wake upto another covering. Didn't expect anything through the night. Currently -7 again according to my naughty app.

Looking at the satellite this could be very decent  just as long as it holds its intensity. It’s going to be close

It’s definitely further south than was forecast by about 100 miles

It looks like we've got the front coming East bumping up against our low travelling west and causing an explosion of convection. Radar looks much better than any models showed for this time frame.
