This update from the Met Office sounds ok for us.

Into late February there is a signal for higher than average pressure to expand westwards leading to an increased chance of snow showers redeveloping in the east, for conditions in the north to become generally quite settled and for unsettled weather in the south, with disruptive snow possible. A similar picture continues into March, though milder conditions in the west look more likely to spread northwards.

Yep it's definitely game over now especially for the southern part of the region. Today has been pretty good really in darlo. The whole spell however has been pretty frustrating really especially Saturday to Tuesday. Could have been one to remember this  but sadly it will be quickly forgotten.

Yes. That's been largely what's driven my unremitting depression: this was a real chance for something special, and those chances don't come along often. And every other sod seemed to get lucky! Ah, well, at least some snow to play in today.

That low I mentioned earlier that's dipping in to the North Sea and back out again...it gets even closer on the GFS 12z.

Yes it’s trending closer on every GFS run although looks isolated in bringing it that close but definitely one to watch

Not too sure about that I watched Gavs snow watch earlier and quite a few hi resolution models are showing snow for the NE tomorrow

Not an iota of a snowflake daylight hours, at least Monday and Tuesday brought a few light bursts. Pennines are killing them. Look how far south west some have made it today, Birmingham area, as the crow flies we are not that far from the east coast, but we have the mighty Pennine barrier.

Interest now turns to how low temps drop this evening, lighter winds will make for a very cold one here.

Wish we had a decent slope near - there's Observatory Hill, but might be a lot of folk there.

I've just driven home from work, Washington to Felling. I think Gateshead Council have ran out of grit, the roads are atrocious.

Some great cloudscapes on the go if you can get a clear view of the coast.

So folks we think it is coming to an end ?

For what my view is worth I think we will still see isolated snow showers over the next few days ( mainly for seabreeze  at the coast ), freezing temps and the snow on the ground will be about until after the weekend at the very least.

Next week I think it will turn slightly less cold ( not mild ) and then around the middle of the following week ( 23rd onwards ) get ready to be all in here again as the next snow chase begins.

Good luck for tonight and the next few days, hope you get a beefy one or two and see you all on the 23rd !!!

Apart from those surfaces directly in the sunlight roofs cars etc there has been no melt here really. My garden is still completely covered and hopefully the snow will stick around until early next week. Probably 3-4 inches on level surfaces.

Well, went and snowboarded the golf course... wasn’t quite the alps , but had some great craic with my brother. Much much needed downtime after a bloody awful 12 months!
