I'm a smidge too south for this current line, fingers crossed we wake up to a very active radar.

Going to bed. I see a good night for a narrow band around the Toon. Apart from that, this radar is getting worse, not better. Let's at least be honest about it: objectively it's poor for the region as a whole.

As I posted earlier the heavier streamers are being instigated as lake effect of the Southern tip of Norway, so follow the 850 wind vectors from there.

The change to NE defo helping direct them from in-between Norway and Denmark land masses

Close to an inch dropped in the last hour. Deepest it's been so far this spell and some hefty showers lining up favourably!

I'll get to bed at some point.

Very little development of any note apart from that strip that's now approaching.

Seriously - this can't be as good as people hoped for the region.

I hadn't really hoped for anything pre 6am so this is a little bonus. If it's still like this come 6am I'll be disappointed.

That's one helluva streamer about to hit NE1 area

I much prefer the old v4 NW radar as less messy & 850 wind vectors easier to follow visually⬇️

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
