The streamer currently over the borders is forecast to move into our region early hours of tomorrow, where it ends up is anyone's guess.

Northumberland have had it good over the past 24 hours, as have North Yorkshire, so my money is on one of those two places.

Looks quiet for a while so I'll ask a question, is there a place in the world to live with snowy winters and hot summers ?

Yes, I used to live in St Louis. Used to get the coldness from Chicago and in summer all the Midwest heat.

I've redone the map:

This really made me laugh. I’m sitting in the barren wasteland of despair.

Have learned a lesson though, never ever tell a 6 year old the snow is coming.
My head is battered

Big blob heading for CLS area by the looks of the radar

It’s reduced in size loads... by the time it gets to us, it’ll be dust

Ignore that! My map hadn’t refreshed, and must have been showing an old overlay

Would appreciate some thoughts and  opinions, such as,  does anyone think this cold spell to last into next week or beyond ? If so is it likely  for the snow fall to increase  significantly?

Thanks for any replies

Met office has just updated their 30 day, looks pretty ok.

Sunday 14 Feb - Tuesday 23 Feb

It will remain cold or very cold with strong winds on Sunday but potentially turning milder over western areas. Outbreaks of rain and snow, potentially heavy for some southwestern areas are possible, whilst staying mostly dry and bright in central and southeastern areas. Further into this period, snow and wintry hazards are likely to continue which could affect mainly northern areas and eastern areas, especially over higher ground but not confined to. Although confidence weakens later in the period, the best of any sunshine looks to be in eastern and northeastern areas, with unsettled conditions mainly towards the west. Strong winds are likely throughout with the risk of coastal gales and temperatures overall remaining cold, with mild interludes in the west.

Updated: 16:00 (UTC) on Tue 9 Feb 2021

Tuesday 23 Feb - Tuesday 9 Mar

After a potential spell of milder and wetter conditions for most likely western parts, probably a return to colder and drier conditions overall. Whilst overall conditions are likely to remain cold, there is a continued chance for unsettled, milder interludes arriving from the west or southwest. These may produce a risk of disruptive snowfall during transition periods. Eastern areas are also likely to see some further snow showers, with the best of any dry bright and sunny weather in the north and northwest

Pleasantly surprised with that met update as it seems to go against most of the model guidance we get to see,but wth. I'll go with it!

Seems that we stay in the game for quite a while longer.

Waiting for the main bulk to pass over me, which unfortunately looks like it's going to go under me

Only a couple of flurries so far in Morpeth today, all the action has been just to the North of here. Hopefully we are well positioned when the wind turns more from the NE tonight.

Had some heavy snow for a couple of mins, but light graupel at the moment. There's a 'blob' following in behind, so will what that brings. Currently time-lapsing it

Oh, and watching some kids on a boogie board out the back 'sledging'

we've just had a bit of that here too. Wife made me do the school run as she doesn't like driving in it. It was over as quick as it started but looks like a bit further south (ie you) should have had it longer.
