That look promising.   Why didnt the BBC pick up on these troughs.  I only watched the forecast 20 minutes ago

I haven't been looking at the BBC weather forecasts because they don't use the Met Office any more (as far as I am aware)

Just checked the radar again those two mini streamers have pretty much dissipated now. The showers just aren't frequent or beefy enough. Not much snow left at all in my part of darlo. Maybe something better tonight we shall see.

Latest fax looks great but pretty poor effort so far for Durham CLS Washington areas. The snow has all gone from the city centre now and anything that falls is now just melting within minutes. Oh no think I'm joining nicks negative crew lol

I am joining as well. So far this cold and snowy spell has been a joke.

The MetOffice were forecasting 2-5cm per day or 10-15cm where streamers hit.

If we just took weather forecasts as gospel, then this forum would be pretty redundant wouldn't it.

There's a difference between taking as Gospel and dismissing as risible and clearly wrong.

That system out to sea doesn't seem to making much progress, and seems to have been stuck since around 12:30 - looks like it's feeding fragments coming off it?

Ah took an hour out to do some orders, thought I’d come back to loads of promise on the radar and reports of snow elsewhere in the region.

Dissapointing, is there any hope left!?

This current snow shower in darlo sums up this cold spell perfectly. Started snowing lightly got to about moderate then it was over before it began. The shower literally lasted four minutes and now the sunshine is out. What bloody use are these showers. More frustrating than enjoyable.

The problem we’ve got at the moment is theres a layer of cloud (circled) we’re our showers are developing, the cloud layer is inhibiting the showers until there clear of it and move west plus theres still a cap over us at around 5000ft

hope that makes sense lol

Makes total sense. The thing I'd like to know though is when the cap will be removed. I can't make any sense of the CIN charts at the minute.
