I'm seeing 3 sort of streamers.  I've highlighted the one that I'm interested from an IMBY perspective but there appears to be one above and one below.

I live in the highest part of Gateshead near the QE hospital and it has been lying here all day but I went down to the Team Valley at 1pm and there was no lying snow there.

Just shows what a difference even a small amount of height can make.

Here is a picture of my location now.

I'm just down the road next to High Felling Post office and similar scenes. Just been to take the recycling out and it's all very crunchy now.

Who's in for a long shift tonight?

It sure does.  Imagine if this was proper heavy snow. We'd all be happy north to south across the region lol

One this to say - sometimes there’s joy in the chase - here we all are - for many of us the model watching , radar watching and forum watching is a big chunk of the fun. Even if we miss out I’d rather this than last winter - virtually never logging in

I don't think height makes a difference as the air is so cold, I just imagine you got hit by the PPN more than they did in the Team Valley.

Still no real signs of proper convection though, no idea how much on the radar is actually reaching the ground but if you get a heavier burst, it will settle right away.

Flakes getting heavier & more persistent as been polystyrene like all day, but after days of rain its the type that lays the perfect foundation

Heavier graupel showers now could this be the start? Streamers seem to setting up all over the NE now.

Think we have had the longest dry spell we have had all day.

Missing the streamers, right in the middle as they go above and below , typical lol.

Sure that we will get a good streamer at some point through the night though.

Oh, look. In between the streamers.

To be fair mate you're not missing much it's mainly just graupel lol

Hang in there i think later and overnight will yield some results.  It's like pulling teeth right now but I'm staying positive for tonight at least.

On a side note the windchill has really picked up it's Baltic oot there!

I am keeping the faith, I am keeping the positive mindset, I am still putting all my hopes on the wonderful BBC ( lol ) forecast which is still giving us heavy snow from around 11pm.

Cheers PM.
