You can really see the instability behind that dross we've had to endure. It's moving further south so just keep the faith folks.

The beauty and the intrigue of the weather.

We are all here for the same thing but yet we all see it differently and maybe want it differently.

Some want 45cm, some happy with 2cm, some want it now, some excited to what might happen, some keep positive, some get really down.

Personally I hope i get 50cm in the next 30 minutes and then excited about the next 50cm I will get tonight but if I don't get it then I will just continue smiling.

And some of us are going through all of these emotions in the space of an hour

I'm trying to keep my hopes up that we'll get a good covering by the time the weeks out but I've got a funny feeling that this isn't going to go as we want it for parts of Teesside. Just drove home, as the showers get lighter, I'm sure they get a sleety mix. Anything that falls in the showers is just melting which is just making the ground wet again. I said this morning that Teesside will be lucky to get lying snow this morning, maybe I should extend that to all of today.

I think we all thought by now that most of the NE would have a blanket of snow, even if it was just a cm.

So when do we think we might get something heavier. Tonight, Tomorrow?

Is that heavier blobs of showers trying to develop near the borders now? Rain today seems to think so!! If that's the case then might only be a few more hours guys.

I agree tentatively. There is definite more beef to the showers from north Northumberland to the borders now. Fingers crossed this is the beginning of something more than snizzle and graupel lol

How and why are people already giving up? If we don’t get lying snow on Teesside by the morning I will show my *** in Binns shop window.

The best is yet to come, I never thought i would be the positive one having had one of the worse snow winters for a long time lol.....

The cold is here and only going to progress colder.... Snow is on its way and we hopefully all have some fun soon.

Only annoying thing for me is i wish it was now so could enjoy with kids before work and school.

I'm not giving up, just being realistic. To get any meaningful snow to parts of Teesside that doesn't melt within that same day, you need something special like 2018 or 2010.

I believe that most of us thought we would have some sort of snow cover by now which we haven't. I'm up at 4am tomorrow and I'm just struggling to see it with how wet everything is at the minute. With every shower that passes, it seems to be getting wetter.

Basically I'm lowering my expectations. Then I won't be disappointed.

Don't need to lower it to the point of a worms t*t though

See what happens when they start to intensify i think some could be pleasantly surprised.

Streamers setting up now of the coast of Norway . We will benefit from these later. As for needing to be something special although not the severity of the beast ,this type of easterly is rare especially these days. This is a convective easterly with zero marginality. The first day of a easterly can be this and usually is. Everything else is there as soon as this cloud clears. Where get the most it a lottery but somewhere is our region will get hammered over the next few days I’m sure of that

Good to see a bit humour nick.

Just drove back home from Durham city. Roofs are white and car windscreens and a slight dusting on the grass. Other than that a pretty poor day. Hopefully the cloud will clear soon and get the convection going

Meanwhile in Aberdeen...

Suspect that is near the Highlands part of Aberdeenshire and that snow is from that weather front that hit Scotland for several days, doubt the city centre has anything like that at all.

And yes shower intensity should improve as we go through tonight and into tomorrow, I'll be shocked if there is not a decent covering by the morning for most.
