It’s just a phrase that’s always been used it basically means snow showers,I know what u mean though ,it might as well just say snow cos that’s what it’s gonna be

It means rain and snow mixed.

Sleet does not mean snow showers. Sleet is a wintry mixture of rain and snow. It's an entirely separate weather phenomena.

There will be a period of sleet to get through but shouldn't last too long and snow thereafter.

Exactly there will be a transition period where there is sleet ,but snow for all from the early hours onwards

There is zero chance of sleet from tomorrow onwards it’s not even close to marginal

To be fair we will get sleet showers before it does turn to snow.

All in it together folks.

Thanks for the rabbit advice - especially the RSPCA pdf.

I've just bought a microwaveable hutch warmer. Arrives tomorrow. Job's a good 'un.

Rain on the Northumberland coast at the moment, expecting it to change after sunset as the colder uppers move in. Hoping for a repeat of 2018!

I don't think it really means snow showers it means a mix of snow and rain, or snow that has almost melted when it reaches the ground and would not settle or accumulate.

2 .3 degrees here in Hexham - a bit sleety but mostly rain. Thought the temp was going to drop a bit faster than this?

1.8 degrees now so 0.5 degree drop in an hour

I presume once this front/band of rain has cleared west then its up to the N Sea to start to produce showers?

Pretty much aye.  I've just checked Sat24 and you can see the convection starting way out east behind it.
