I’ve made the decision to stay with my parents in Hexham because I have a vital week at work next week so can’t afford to get stranded. When I left home this morning there was about 8 inches on the ground and it was snowing lightly.

As for the extended forecast the METO seem confident the North Sea snow machine will keep on going for a while longer!

Ties in with MetO forecast. Surely the GFS can’t be wrong at such a short timescale!

I See the SE has an amber warning now. I wonder if us folks in the North East will at some point if the showers keep piling in.

Either way it looks like a fun few days coming up from around 4pm tomorrow.

From what I heard of it NES is that the SE will be getting a persistent spell of heavy snow while we get showers. When that persistent spell moves away from the SE it fires things up more with the easterly for us with showers becoming more intensified and prolonged.

This sounds good news then. Let them start the party off  BBC weather showing Monday looking very snowy with heavy more prolonged snow.

Didn’t something happen before it could well have been in the last easterly when we wanted to front to move away from the South ASAP to aid convection/showers?

UKV actually doesn't look too bad for convection on Sunday, better as we move forward

Yeah it was in the last beast the storm can’t remember it’s name gave to much high cloud which killed of our convection. No such problems this time

How many times have you warned people about the forecast ?

I’ve tried to restrain myself as it usually spells the end ! I called the 2018 spell with family a week and a half out and was roundly dismissed - was quite smug

This rain just wont stop.

Ground conditions are abysmal around the area at the moment, absolutely saturated.

If only we could get some freezing temperatures and snow to cover it up.

Must be underplaying convection as there’s not that many really in that

I am getting a BIT concerned that so many forecasts are not predicting anything much for here. In 2018 and previous great years, I don't recall forecasts consistently and this close to the event forecasting so little.
